Cross plane GEN 3

Don't get me wrong, I also like the sound of an R1 or Panigale. But have you ever wondered why you like that sound so much? Because it's a sound you hear every now and then. Imagine if this would be the sound that from now on most engines would produce, I think that would be boring. Conclusion, fortunately there are inline fours, a sound that should never disappear. It's a sound you will never get tired of. So be proud of your screaming and howlin messias :super:

5 valve r1s have been gone since 2006 :)
the r1 cross plane crank IMO is a gimmick. an imbalanced engine to add an uneven firing order for a different sound track… if you ever see one opened up they added a balance shaft so help balance the engine and reduce vibrations. they have had reliability issues with the crank and some racers have snapped them. other cross plane engines use a V configuration to help with the balance problems.
