Ok so everyone loves the sound of the R1 with the cross plane. When is someone going to come out with crank and cam for the BUSA to be crossplane?

Das once put throttle bodies on the exhaust ports of a Busa motor and had the exhaust come out the intake side

I agree, I think the Hayabusa already has a sound all it's own especially when revved at speed...that intake howl is pretty unique.

it’s would make less power because probably need a balance shaft to balance the unnecessary imbalances. adding parts could decrease reliability.
paying for a sound…sounds like harley talk smh

Don't get me wrong, I also like the sound of an R1 or Panigale. But have you ever wondered why you like that sound so much? Because it's a sound you hear every now and then. Imagine if this would be the sound that from now on most engines would produce, I think that would be boring. Conclusion, fortunately there are inline fours, a sound that should never disappear. It's a sound you will never get tired of. So be proud of your screaming and howlin messias

I often ride with a mate who has a nicely tuned R1. I never overtake him as I love listening to it under full throttle..

For the cost of making your Hayabusa sound like a cross-plane R1, you could just go buy a cross-plane R1. There are no laws (yet) about how many bikes a person can own.

They (Attack Performance) did this for the ZX-10R back in the day and ran a few MotoGP races with it as a wildcard entry. Thing sounded BONKERS.

5 valve r1s have been gone since 2006
the r1 cross plane crank IMO is a gimmick. an imbalanced engine to add an uneven firing order for a different sound track… if you ever see one opened up they added a balance shaft so help balance the engine and reduce vibrations. they have had reliability issues with the crank and some racers have snapped them. other cross plane engines use a V configuration to help with the balance problems.
