Cush drive

Going to be putting Battlax rear #3 on in next week or so at a whopping 5500 miles. Glad I don't do burnouts, or ride extremely hard! I'd have to sell my other toys to feed this thing rear tires! It's pretty bad when Charles at Street and Track just looks at his caller ID and ships one out to me!

At any rate, without looking at them, is there a point where the cush drives should be replaced? Should I stick with the OEM rubber ones? I recall a post where someone used a different type made with something else?

Any help appreciated.

Good question! I'm curious on that, too!

If you go with OEM - give vman a shout - he'll hook ya up!

With the tire on the ground and the trans in neutral grab the rear sprocket. Try to rotate it back and forth. There will be some play but if it seems excessive then pull the wheel and inspect the cushions for wear or damage. If it looks worn then replace them. They're pretty cheep.

Just replaced mine at 16,000. Probably should have done them a lot earlier. Replaced with stock from Charles @ Streetntrack. And by all means get some Pilot Powers on that beast. You will get twice the mileage and much better handling.

I've changed the cush drives on my CBXs and instead of actually wearing down, they shrink and get hard. A symptom will be a feeling of driveline snatch, like you need a chain adjustment when you really don't. Heat and age is its only enemy.

I have just replaced my cush-drives 2nd time, I do this every 10k no problems at all and relatively cheap...
