hiya all, id just like to put this up to see who might be interested in a cheaper, better looking and possibly better performing alternative to the carpenter srad scoops, itll be 3d printed but will have a smoothing agent applied to increase strength and not look like it was printed, pictures will be posted up in the next day or 2. If your interested pop a comment or a like, those who are get first dibs :super:

First test print underway

the main way these will attach is using a twin end hook idea to save drilling or gluing which if you end up wanting to remove it will leave marks to clean up, this will be purely a quick attach detach with nothing but printed clips to secure it. Don't worry ill design it to stay on at 300kph+

Are they going to be scoops or just a trim ring
The will be a full size alternative to the carpenters one that you buy from shnitz racing, and will be more sleek but will try and collect more air that is deflected off the headlight. The ones you see atm are just to get the shape right for inlets, then from there ill extend and shape them.
And rubb, depends on how picky you are about colour matching, i can only print 1 colour at a time i can't do 2 tone because I dont have a dual extruder head on my printer, but I can print in different colours to save painting them, but they might not be an exact match with colours

Also being gen 2 I dont have a reference to shape a set as I dont own a gen 2 or know anyone to help with letting me adjust the shape, if you know wether gen 1 and 2 inlets are the same shape then I could send a set your way to try out

What he ^ said. I love the idea. Bling is cool. :super: Will you be able to color match? For instance, say on my bike...View attachment 1628055 if they were made to match the red on my grafx, they would really pop against the black.

Rubb.

If you'd really love to try a set and don't mind helping me out, could you try and get a template of the inlet onto a 5mmx5mm grid sheet of paper like this

and send me a pic then I can try and do something for you

I wonder if driving even more air into the airbox thru the ram air system might upset the fueling by leaning it out? I know nothing of the Schnitz extenders and honestly they have never entered my mind.

It's an interesting experiment though.

From what I gather there's a air temp sensor aswell as an air box pressure sensor, without the pressure sensor the whole idea of that control flap and the ram air idea would be pointless if you can't keep track of it to adjust fueling

The gen 2s are different though aren't they? (no flap)

I can't answer that, but alot of the fuel injected engines run off the same principle, temperature readings, vacumme/pressure readings, without the computer knowing how much air is going it its pointless to have fuel injecton, might aswell go carbureted.

Another test piece, this one will be cut on an angle to get it to sit straight in the duct against the mesh guard

I only wondered if the enhanced ram air effect would upset the balance-but, I guess it doesn't.

In theory it shouldn't due to the electronics and sensors, but who knows, maybe the sensors can only read so much, not to worry though, if it affects mine in a negative way I sure will try to correct it before I send any to people

Just wondering is all....I'm certain you have a good handle on it.

Just as close a red as possible would suit my needs (1 color)

Just a guess from memory. The noses are same Gen I & II but the piece that holds the turn signal is different. Hope to be corrected on that if wrong. Best move is to cross reference part #'s.

All of that pesky airbox stuff ^ sort of a "non-issue" for me....

So, I Really like these and know of people here in South Africa that would want those. However work wise people here are little worse for wear, but if you could give us an estimate price, something they can work towards, possibly estimate a shipping cost also, Im sure id get my Gen 1 bros to get some. Awesome work.
