Customizing Your Bike

Ill race U AS :) And even if I am bound to loose, who cares ?Then I would have the raced the best in the world and to be second is nothing to sneeze about,,,,hehehehehe ( even Matt Hines have lost more then once to AS). By the way we have met a few times but u problaby dont remember. I was the Norwegian guy working for Paul Gast a few years ago at Gainsville and Huston. Boy I should have known back then that U were single at the time. heheheh :)

Not to offend anyone further, but back to the 'Busa....

It seems to my eye that the Hayabusa is one of the more feminine machines out there in style. Kind of full-figured, lots of rounded curves in all the right places, very easy on the eyes...

Maybe I see it that way because I have spent a lot of my life hanging around fast, athletic women of the Flojo variety. I know what looks good to me. I call my bike Suzi. She is definitely a 'she'.

Angelle, I'll run you a quarter-mile on foot. On bikes, I'd dismount and watch you run, and feel privileged to do that. People pay to watch pros; guys on this list (this one included) shouldn't even try to compare themselves to you, because there is no comparison.

I'm curious, what is your opinion of 9-second bikes like the Hayabusa? They can't seem too exciting in the context of the drag strip. Kind of like apples and oranges?

I don't want to offend anyone either, but:

Mr. Bear, not many guys would date a woman that looked much like a Busa, and I'll bet even Flojo would have taken exception;

DP, what's this thing about picking up a Busa? I have raced lots of things I couldn't pick up [horses, boats, cars, etc.]. What you need is enough gift of gab to get it picked up when you need to [hydraulic lifts being useful, for example. Like the time I dropped my ZX-11 on a dirt mining road at 1AM in the Anza-Borrego desert, and diverted a jeep full of terrified teenagers [black leather-clad figure waving by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere in the dark -- "Uh, could you help me pick up my 600lb dirtbike?" "Gee, I dunno, mister"]

And if that's you, Ms. Seeling, rock on, we are all VERY impressed by what you're doing out there.

Lisa, I prefer to leave my bike mostly stock, with just a few mods to styling and function. But I would definitely recommend no more "track styling" modifications to your 'Busa. Wads of grass in the intake ducts? Mmmm...nah, don't like that look very much. Bummer. Hope it all goes back together okay.

Point well taken, terra1, a bike's a bike, a woman's a woman, a man's a man, we all know the difference (hopefully). I was just expounding on Pete's comment about there being nothing feminine about the 'Busa. Artistically-aesthetically speaking, I don't quite see it that way, that's all.

And in fact it is really handy to be able to pick up your own machine. While you muck about trying to find good semaritans to help you, oil is going into the top end, fuel is going where it shouldn't go, and acid is dripping out of your battery.

Best solution; don't drop your bike. Second-best solution; be strong enough to pick it up.

A Seeling, thanks for weighing in, as it were. I see the other members are in awe of you. Are you the lady who runs top fuel drag bikes who was featured in a recent full page ad in one of the bike mags? I have so many bike mags I couldn't begin to retrieve the one I'm talking about.

If you are that person, or some other pro drag pilot, I'd be proud to have my butt whupped by you!

It's always great to see women excel at male-dominated activities. Tell us a little about yourself if you would. Like what do you ride on the street? What do you race?

Lisa: I'm in love. A big strong woman who can pick up her bike AND races! Obviously, you're into all kinds of customization and obviously, we other members don't have a whole lot to teach you.

So teach us. Will guys ride with you on the street or are they too proud to have their skills shown up? Do you do any of your own wrenching? How aggressively do you ride the street, knowing that you can get your warp speed fix at the track and NEVER go that fast in a corner on the street? Personally, I'm very comfortable on the track, but the street makes me a little nervous. What have you done to your Busa so far, if anything?

You fooled me when you posted that you wanted to customize with "decals." I figured you might be a little on the delicate side for a Busa.

Anyway...what are you looking to do with your bike?

-Pete

THAT'S where I saw her...People magazine!

In my dentist's office.

Guys, we (I'm guilty too as always Your Honor) are acting like a bunch of guys in a bar who haven't been laid in a week.

Notice how these two women keep us hanging on and we swarm around being more polite on this thread than we are on others?

That's how they (the women) take you out at the lights. A little tease...a little bit of signing your post "me." You're looking at her, she's looking at the christmas tree.

We're not really talking about picking up bikes here, are we. We're talking about picking up fast women. And I don't mean fast in that...other, crude way.

Let's just drop all that bar poop and talk to them like they're riders.

Girls, get out here and post some more! And let's have some friggin' profanity ferkrissake.

You'll probably both be relieved to find out that we're not really as humble and polite and sucky in general as we've been on this thread.

God, you throw a couple of broads in the room and we all turn into citizens.

What good is that?

Girls, talk to us.

The busa is my street bike, and I have a '97 CBR F3 for my track/race bike. Am not really wanting to do a lot of custumizing, but do like the chrome look that Lamont has got going on with his bike. And now that I have the old set of plastic in the garage, it would be nice to have it repaired and painted. Am also wanting to change the pipes to a single. Just threw out this topic to see if anyone else has got some ideas, choices, etc.

Is it really possible that we have actually enjoyed the company of the REAL Angela Seeling?! I can't help but be sceptical considering some of the "stuff" that gets posted here but if it really is Angela she seems like the type that would really enjoy and make good use of a Busa! (at least I've always thought so) With her low weight and high skill level I would really hate to be in the other lane! :)

P.S. - You sound like you are having fun too Lisa!

What a bunch of ass kissers you guys are. You all sound like your talking to a peeler at a strip club. What did you just turn of age? Ooh ooh... what kind of bike do you ride? So do I, isn't that quaint? Maybe we could go and hang out at starbucks one day and show off our bikes together? Christ, it makes me sick. You sound like a bunch of pussies. What I want to know is can you wheely that thing? And I don't mean any wimpy 1st gear wheelies either. I'm talkin about 5th gear 200+ km wheelies, or 120 mph for you illiterate boneheads out there.

Superman, if your wife catches you posting like that, she'll have your balls of steel hanging on her wall (I liked that one).

Pete, a week? How about a year??

Lisa, my only suggestion at the moment is to use MarGlass for your bodywork repair, if you are doing your own fiberglass work. It's about the best stuff going, and pretty easy to work with.

Yes I can wheelie at over 100mph,but not for long putting on an extended swingarm. wheelie killer.

Thanks Bear and Lyle. There is just a single crack on the left panel, otherwise just millions of scratches, scraps, minor contusions...lucky I only got into a gravel bath (I guess). Have a few friends with the kind of workshops that could help me with the repairs, so I'll probably do the sanding and leave the painting to them. Am still working on paying for the new plastic bits, and am on a buget at the moment.

Am off to meet Ben Bostrom at the Seattle Ducati party they're having downtown this evening. Any questions you guys want me to ask?

I like West System epoxy and filler for fiberglass. West makes a whole line of epoxies, fillers and tape for about anything. It sands off real nice too. Awlgrip two part paint is good too.

Obviously I have worked on too many sailboats and not many bikes. But it does work.

Mr Bear and Lyle: Great plastic repair tips and I've filed them away for futures, but I don't think Lisa wants to fix her busted up plastic. She said she wants to "repaint...for those special occasions."

If I read that right, I think she has a sense of humour and intends to keep that fresh-off-a-turn-seven-crash look and run around on the only Busa Streetfighter in town.

Cool. I'd leave the duct tape on it and spray paint it all flat black.

Excellent way to scare the innocent civilians.
