Cycle world 9/06 issue

Just talked to my friend who has the 14. Gas mileage is HORRIBLE

(as he said, just like his old 12R) and looks like the rear tire want really last either (just like his 12R) . And this is a guy who doesn't abuse it at all. So, down side to me, same as the 12R I considered. Poor mileage and no tire life

who gives a poop about gas mileage on a bike, still beats a SUV!
Let me clue you in

; if you live out here (in the Western States) and do any touring, you will eventually get to areas that a gas station is 80 to 100 miles apart. And at night, you might have to divert 50 miles or more if your not careful. So, YEA, gas mileages is important

. Unless of course you like pushing you bike for miles or sitting on the side of the Hwy for HOURS waiting for someone to come by ! And "OH" yea, waiting on the side of the Hwys at night is not recommended since rattlesnakes crawl up on the Hwy to keep warm out here

!
Been there man. A freind of mine had a then new GS700E and it had the smallest fuel tank I had ever seen. It ran dry coming back from Canada one time and we had to slingshot him the last 25 miles into town. One at a time we would ride up to him and grab his hand and give him a tow up to speed and then sling him down the road. Luckily his battery held up long enough to light his way into town. Sucks outloud! Plan accordingly!

Anyone about the top speed thing I mentioned am I high or is the bike getting slower
Many diff mags worldwide had it running in the 194-197 range, and a british mag got one up to 200.2 on Bruntingthorpe airfield.
And of course an off the showroom stocker set the Guiness record at 194. In the right conditions its as fast as ever

IMO, after 7 years to design, tweak, sweat, pray, etc., the 14 should have a much stronger showing than it does. As for reading about how much more advanced in technology the 14 is, I'd hope so since it's a 06 model vs a 99 model. Something to consider: all Suzuki has to do is keep the Busa just as it is and drop the weight by 50lbs and the small number speed advantage obtained by professional riders on the ZX14 will be history. Yes, the Busa remains the Gold Standard....
