Cyclometer mount on Busa

I have one on my bike by sigma model 800. I think the 1200 will work also. It has a max speed of 183 or 188 I think.

It mounts easily to the front rotor. It is as accurate as your measurement of your front tire, and for only $30 how can you go wrong?

Interesting - that's the one I was looking at.

How/where exactly did you mount the sensor on the front wheel. Was the cable long enough? Where you able to tuck it away for a good clean look? Where/how did you mount the computer on your dash or handle bars??

Not to sound stupid but what actually is a cyclometer I realize it is a speed measuring device, and would understand it to measure RPM of the wheel using a proximity sensor mounted on the wheel and convert it to speed. And at $30 can't be overly elaborate.

And after talking myself through it would guess it is one of the speedometers you would buy for a bicycle. Please verify.

And am very impressed that they would display that fast a speed if made for a bicycle, and would suspect they are fairly accurate as long as they dont miss a pass of the sensor here or there. and your measure ment of the wheel is accurate (hoping for a minimal change of circumference at that speed)

Reminds me of the new data logging article in one of the mags recently I think performance bike.

Factory--I've used an Avocet model 35 bike computer on my other motorcycle (Honda Goldwing) for about four years. Works great and dead on target. Did have to fabricate a special sensor mount for the bottom of the fork. Not sure you can read to 200 mph, but all the other functions work great. It would be challange trying to mount one on the Busa, it's set up for a handlebar. It can however be done and the thought had crossed my mind instead of a yellow box. Given the time you'll invest and the special mounts may be "cheaper" in the long run to foot the c-note for the yellow box.

Has anyone done this? What brand did you use? Where/h0w did you mount it? Does it have a max speed of 200 mph or better?

Factory--for grins I ran my Goldwing past a 100 and low and behold the Avocet will read past 100. Damn, now I'm thinking that maybe this might be a good idea. I'll let you know if I get one mounted.

Bunch of different bicycle computers out there that will work. Problem is many aren't rated for the speeds that the busa runs! In any event, check out this link for another model of cyclometer that works well as well as instructions/suggestions on mounting: http://www.sportbikes.com/bc700.htm

You lost me on the "Yellow Box" reference.

Yellow box refers to a product made in Australia (I think) and it recalibrates you Speedo within .5 mph or so.
Unfortunately it's turned out to that the builder is too unreliable to get these units out in a timely way.

Thanks! Good link w/ instructions/ideas for mounting and installing.

Is there any reason to think that one brand would be less accurate than other?? They are all simply recording the number of revolutions - correct?

I've got the Sigma BC800 on my F4. Haven't added to the busa yet. It is calibrated to over 180 but at the bicycle shop I bought it from they had it over 200 on the display model. On the F4, I superglued a rare earth magnet (radio shack) to the rotor and mounted the sensor to the fork tube, worked like a charm. You'll love the digital display as well as average speed, total ride time and, if anyone would be interested top speed! I had the F4 to 149.7mph (180 indicated with dropped tooth on front) At the time I thought that was fast, haaa! I'll put it on the busa this weekend and let you know.....

You lost me on the "Yellow Box" reference.

Couple of guys are fabricating different magnents that fit in their front disk and then cementing the sensor to the inside of the fender. Might work, but I want a clean fit.
