We can certainly try . No problem with taking it off , boxing it up and advertising it separately. If I am not working Saturday I'll come up and shoot some more pics of it in the box . Since we are gonna do that we may as well shoot some more pics of gun by itself in box as well ? Maybe we can sell each separately . Would you like me to update both listings and state scope is available separately ? I'm remembering the screws on scope mounts were torx. Do you have some of these bits to remove scope and rings ?

Matt I just registered there in hopes of posting it for him but you need to have 100 posts in order to list anything for sale. So I sent this email to the Admin ...

I realize I have to have 100 posts to post a weapon for sale but I wonder if there is any way around this ?
I have over 80 A+ feedback ratings on GunBroker and am trying to help a friend whos in desperate financial situation sell a prized Fn PBR .308 rifle.
Here is a link to it on GB : http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=177523479

It would take me sometime to get to 100 posts and hes in need of $ asap. Anything you can do for us.
This would be a one time deal as any further things I post I will abide by your rules of 100 posts needed.

Lets see if they can allow me to do it for him..

More like a few hours but they will all need to be positive and productive toward the site .

right on. its best to do it the way you did. they will respect you more for that and probably let you list it.

all in all its a good forum for a gun nut. im not established there either or i would offer to sell it. im just a lurker.

Already got response from admin . Can't change 100 post rule . Don't allow guns to be listed for other people . Nor do they allow guns that are listed on other sites to be listed either . What I get for being honest and up front :(

I told him most likely I will buy gun and make 100 positive posts and then list it . He responded and said good luck . Always a way :)

thanks everyone...especially you pocketrocket...and saiid...we tried.

Jinx and Blanca,

Coming from my gun guru, remove the reserve!!! Set the 1st bid at what you want for the gun. He does hundreds of auctions a year and buys about that many more. He will not even look at an auction that has a reserve on it. Has the search set to not show reserve auctions. Just a thought that might or might not help. Best of luck!!

Jinx it looks like one he77 of a gun. Sorry to hear of your misfortunes. If I had the money I would just buy it an hold it to sell back to you when you get on your feet but unfortunately, funds are not great here either. Did this for a friend a while back with a body dropped blazer we built together.... bought it parked it in his garage for a year then sold it back to him. Wish I could help ya out more.

Reserve is 1400. The lowest Bill said he will take. I myself have done many auctions on GB as well as 100s other places. If first bid is 1400 and is visible it may scare off more than it attracts. With a hiden reserve any bid will be accepted and start the ball rolling. Once others see interest they then start bidding and what hopefully happens is a bidding war takes place and you wind up with more than you want.

I sold an Hk .22 caliber conversion kit last last summer for 2100 and another Hk .22 conversion kit a few yrs ago for FN-Fal for 2500. These were both started at ONE PENNY and within days they were past 2k. Its just tough times and hard to sell things.
Pics of kits. Ultra rare Hk .22 kits..one for 93 and other for Fn-Fal..
These were not the normal .22 kit for 91 (.308) model you can still find in great numbers.
Fn-Fal kit was made by Hk for the Brits to train with their L1A1s..
Cannot find one now at any price.

Frankly I'd set the initial bid at $1000 - you're sure to get a bite there and right now ANYTHING is better than nothing. If the logic of $1400 starting a bidding war is going to be used it can certainly be used at $1000. :beerchug: Guns can be replaced, being foreclosed on is much more serious.

Saiid, I have a pre-ban 93....what do you think it's worth now?

Its not up to me.
The scope alone cost $1000 and the rifle was over $900.
Things just creeped up on him. Given time I think it will sell for what hes asking.

At $1400 if somebody bids it will show 'reserve met' then when others see it they may bid 1405 and then the next maybe a bit more and so on till he gets what he wants which is really 1500.
At 1000 it will show 'reserve not met' If we start it at 1000 reserve he would be losing more than he said he was willing to. Again its not up to me and I am only trying to help.
A FFL friend of mine who was at last weeks guns show told me if he tugged on folks shirts and asked them if they wanted FREE AMMO he could not give it away. Its tough. Dont know what else to say. Look at link to gun you will see I have one for sale myself. Wanna sell it to buy another one I have my eye on. My gun is certified and paper appraised at $5k and I cant get a bid on it for $4k so again its a buyers market and a sellers worst nightmare.. :(

I understand all of that, but in the big scope of things wouldn't having $1000 at this point be better than nothing. Sometimes you have to take a bigger hit than you're initially willing to take to salvage a bigger ticket item....like the house. The gun can be replaced at a later date when things turn around for him financially, right now it seems to make more sense from my perspective to take a bigger hit if necessary in order to do what's really important at this point.

Keith I need more info and pics if you have them. same as your M1 tell me as much about it and I will give you accurate info.

1: Date code on gun ? (two letters between two symbols on left side of reciever as in pic)
2: Is it Hk Grey or Hk Black ? (as in pic)
3: full stock of collapsable ?
4: Any 'claw marks' on it from scope mount ?
5: Date codes match on bolt carrier ?
6: Condition overall
7: Original box ? Barrel straw ? Test target and all other papers ?

If its grey than its standard Hk finish and one used for most of their production with a 1x9 twist on it.
If its Hk black as you can see diff in pic and has 42 prefix in serial number it carries a premium of +200-250 cuz these were made only in 1987-89 and came with 1x7 twist which is better for 62gr and heavier 5.56 rnds.

Depending on the above its worth anywhere from $2500-$3500

saiid...i'm sorry man...i guess i put the pressure on ya just thinking about what i was willing to loose on this rig but jd is right...and making a lot of sense...and not taking anything at all from you AT ALL as you told me it was a tough market out there and i never dreamed i'd be this tuff but...like jd says...the gun can be replaced...let it ride man...do what you think is best cause my mind is mush right now.

Thanks again and L8R, Bill.
