Hal, you really bought it with your deer, didn't you...
I live off the road that holds the record in Missouri for the most deer hit, per mile, than any other road in the State...
With that said, I can only say to keep the high beam on at night and watch for the eyes to shine, and when you see them, SLOW DOWN. When you see one, there is usually another one, or more, right behind that one.
I almost always have to slow down, or stop, when I come home late at night, because they like to sleep along side of the drive, and will run up it, to follow me around the house to the garage.
Do you think that is because I feed them, and they come to me when I call them?

I usually slow the pace down, a lot, in the fall, especially during and around the "rut season".
This is the time the bucks are chasing the does, and they must have blinders on to everything else.
