Was gonna say that you'd get more miles if you used the whole tyre

But in fairness it looks fair fooked in the middle

fair fooked?? I know, i know, use the whole tire haha. Every time i go out and hit the twisty's i think i'm to the edge of the tire, then i look at it and still have about 1/2" of tread left un-touched, arrrrrgh! So i should still be good for a while though? Riding to mid ohio next weekend with the wife (about an hour or so ride one way), and don't want to risk having a tire issue with her on the back. She should be pretty comfortable for the ride though, her corbin seat w/backrest will be here next week

I would say yes, the bt's start to shed tread before they get completely worn out...

how exactly do u know when it's time to replace, when the tire is worn completely past the grooves? Don't want to ride it until the belts showing, but might as well save the $$ for now if i still have plenty left and put the money towards something else (alienhead/pc )

down to the wear bar picture 2. No longer legal to run on the street. Buy new tires. The wear bar means you have 2/32 of tread. Don't put yourself at risk over a tire.

I would have replaced it a while ago. The flattening of the middle makes the bike ride poorly imo. I like to have decent tread depth always on my tire just in case I get caught in the rain. I know some people ride till you see the strings, but not me.

Steve nailed this, look at the bar (raised spot in the groove) if this spot is now level with the rest of the tread your tire is done. New tires are always the cheapest insurance you can have. Riding 2 hours in the middle on heavy bike plus being 2 up your going to come back on cords. Of course it's not my money but I wouldn't put myself or my wife in that spot if I were you. Just my .02

From that flat spot down the middle, I would say you do more than a few burn outs no???

That will obviously decrease your tire life.

That $250 you invest in a new set are worth it. Beats crashing.

ok thanks, will try to get new tread this weekend. No i don't do burnouts or wheelies, haven't even attempted to once. Of course the front end does get a tad light sometimes, but i don't beat on her too hard. U guys are right though, i would hate to sacrifice my safety (especially the wife's) bc of a $200 tire. Not worried at all about saving the cash, just wanted some opinions on if i should replace or ride a bit more on it. Gonna see if the shop has the michelin pilot power pure in stock and maybe get them mounted up tomorrow

+ 1000

The tire has reached the end of it's life. Time to replace.

cheers

When the surface of the tread is worn down so that the wear bar, or tread wear indicator, is flush with the surface of the tread.

The wear bar is circled in your pic.
