Do you actually remember your crash?

I knew I was gonna go down, then, next thing I know, I am looking up at a lady who is holding my head in her hands, and telling me not to move - that I have been in a crash. I have absolutely no recollection whatsoever of the actual crash itself. I was going 75-80 at the time, so I'm sure I must have flipped/rolled/slid for a couple of seconds, at least.

But I do not remember anything.
Zero.

Anybody else have this "amnesia"?

I remember EVERYTHING every detail right up to the point where my head hit the truck.... I remember him pulling out, me grabbing brakes, picking the spot I was going to hit, going up over the handlebars... After that I remember slowy coming around in complete darkness, sounds first... I never had any sight because my eyes had glass in them and were full of blood and swollen shut.... I became AWARE in the ambulance running hot down the highway... I do remember hearing the helicopter coming in too..

I remember ever part of it, but I did not konk my head either...... I can still see the look on the passengers face as the uninsured little prick pulled out in front of me

I can remember everything in each except one where I was knocked out on impact and I am guessing did the lifeless ragdoll fly, fall and land off the bike.

I remember everything. I heard the bike hit the car and as I slid along I thought "well, the bike is totaled, and I'll be darned if I am gonna scratch this new helmet." So I slid along lifting my head up, keeping the helmet off the pavement.

What I have learned about crashes is that nothing really hurts during the crash. Things begin to hurt later and sometimes its the next day before the real pain sets in. I have crashed where I was up and about feeling okay, getting back on the bike. But the next morning found myself needing a rope swing to help me get out of bed.

The other thing I have learned about crashes is, we never get to pick and choose where nor when we crash. Most of the time a crash occurs when we least expect it. I have never thought to myself or said under my breath as I threw a leg over "Awh hell, I think I'll crash today"! :-)

So my theory after five decades of two wheel fun is to "Always dress for the worst and hope for the best"! By following this theory things have generally worked out for the best.

And one other thing I have learned from my own crashes and witnessing multitudes of crashes is its a very rare crash that the rider does not share at least some responsibility for the outcome!

Bikes don't crash, only RIDERS Do!

Crashed a few times, only once my fault.

Remember them all except one thing, when I was a dispatch rider I hit a mini that had pulled out of a oneway street the wrong way, hit it in the side and went right over the roof.
Can't remember seeing anything as I somersaulted over the car, only heard a woman screaming, remember feeling myself hitting the floor back first, and my head snaping back and my helmet hitting the floor, then I turned my head to the left and saw some people, then I saw people around me.

Went to the hosptal and I was ok, but like Tuf said the next day I really ached, and had to have some time off work.

remember everything. then again, it was in a parking lot. somehow the bike still slid 50 feet tho.

I remember everything. But, my helmet never touched the ground. As mentioned earlier, I got up after a few minutes checked the bike an I was on my way and feeling ok! until I woke up the next morning!! I was on pain killers for a week after that!!!!!

i remember everything, the sliding behind the bike on the asphault and watching my poor busa do a flip into the side of the hill, ATGATT:thumbsup:

I remember nothing from my 1st wreck, but then again I was hit head on while on the highway. In fact, I lost all but three 30 second clips of that entire day and spent the next 7 days in a coma. The 1st 2 months of my 6 month long hospital stay was pretty much a blur too thanks to the high doses of pain meds. The only parts of the day I crashed I can remember are standing in my apartment rolling up and placing stainless steel brake lines into the right cargo pocket of my pants, sitting on my bike tightening a new mirror (I can see my dad in the mirror as I’m using the wrench), then having dinner with my parents and we were laughing about something but I don’t know what. I had taken off early from work so my father and I could put a bunch of parts on my bike and I got hit on the way home.

The second wreck was at a fairly low speed 35mph+/- and was all my fault….I remember everything my stupid asre did!.....

I agree: my crash was 100% my own dam* fault. I knew good and well that my bike had exhibited a high-speed wobble in the past, and I ASSUMED that I had fixed it. WRONG!!!! Good thing I was ATGATT, and that there was no traffic to hit me after the fall. Else I would not be here today. If I'd had any sense, I would have CAREFULLY inspected and monitored its handling before going WOT. I was an IDIOT!

I remember every detail of each one.

1.) Doing 65mph, truck coming opposite direction, just before the truck and I go past each other a lady in a car pulls out behind the truck to overtake it, right in front of me. Did not even get a chance to touch the brakes, slammed into her grill, got launched over the car and landed on the pavement behind the car. Bike totalled, helmet totalled, lady tried to argue with me I was going too fast. I was fine, there was nothing I could do.

2.) Massive hangover, took a curve too wide, hit the curb and it was all over. Bike not too bad, me fine. Could have been avoided if I did not party so much the night before.

3.) Track, two riders in front of me start braking for the curve at approximately 140 mph, they touch each other and go down. I lose my line of sight, get on both brakes, I'm guessing at about 80 mph I think I'm going to hit them and instinctively grab too much front brake. Front washes out, I fall on my back, do a flip, slide down the track on my stomach and see the rider behind me go down as he tries to avoid me. Torn ligaments in left foot, about $1500 to fix bike. This one I could have avoided, lack of experience.

So, why do we keep riding???

I remember everything. Saw the deer, heard the hoofs of the critter trying to get traction, eyes bulging as I hit it. Sliding down the road and saw the bike pass me on its side. Stopped sliding face down and wondered where my shield went. Rolled over and sat up, right leg worked normal, left leg was in a weird position (broken). Tried to take my helmet off and then figured out my shoulder was sprained. 45 MPH and "All the gear all the time" saved me from alot worse injuries. All in all, a bad day!

I recall the bad event...loss of traction on a clean street winter day outside of cleveland. The salt / junk around turns is where I bit it...aside from the pain the odd recollection is the bike kinda spun on the back tire / frame slider and I kept seeing the headlight go around. What a learning experience

I remimber every thing like it was in slow motoin on all my crashes. the only time I ever was knocked out was on my dirt bike and I remimber hitting the tree then my brother standing over me, holding me up in a sitting position with my arms over my head, and I said " what the f are you doing " to witch he said " you were out cold " we got up and kept rail through the woods. but that was in my much younger days.

It happens so quick. Fortunately, my crashes involved low speeds, so i remember all of them pretty well. I ride better now as a result, both defensively and offensively. I slow my speed approaching intersections as a habit now. I still speed, but not as often as years past. Crashes help you mature as a rider....if you live.

I remember both of them very vividly but I didnt hit my head that hard... I think ... ???

I remember when I realized that things were about to get bad. The next thing I remember is tumbling and then jumping to my feet as soon as I stopped moving. My first thought was to move out of the road so I didn't get run over. I don't remember the actual impact or coming off the bike, only the before and after. From looking at my helmet, it appears that my head hit the guardrail and the road pretty hard.
