Do you actually remember your crash?

I still can't believe how bad that bike took a hit and you walked away. (Ok maybe limped...glad you are all healed up and riding again.)

I remember when I realized that things were about to get bad. The next thing I remember is tumbling and then jumping to my feet as soon as I stopped moving. My first thought was to move out of the road so I didn't get run over. I don't remember the actual impact or coming off the bike, only the before and after. From looking at my helmet, it appears that my head hit the guardrail and the road pretty hard.

Mine in 2010 were minor (track) and I remember everything, because they were mild. I believe the mind shuts off remembering real injury in order to speed the healing process.

Daniel, there is no way around it, I've never seen a bike torn up that bad and the rider not that stayed with it. You used up one of your 9 lives that day.

Thanks. Haha, yeah, I was limping pretty good when we came over to your house.

I remember every second of the bad one in clear detail from the moment I knew I was boned. My leg hitting the pavement really hard, sliding on my shoulder, could hear the bike sliding, realizing I was slowly starting to turn over so I remember thinking to tuck my arms. Once stopped I opened my eyes and saw Orion in the sky through a hole in the trees. I got to my knees, found my wife sitting up a few yards away. She said she was OK, then at that point I realized that my right leg was in more pain than I'd ever experienced before or since. Amazingly nothing was broken and I was standing about 15 minutes later. Bike was rashed but overall not bad at all considering the slide into a ditch hard enough that the bike ended up in the yard.

The other was a high side during a track day and strangely I remember nothing about the flight. Felt the bike slip next thing I know I'm tumbling and glimpsing the bike behind me. Even while I was still tumbling I was wondering how the bike was beside me when I lowsided. Jumped up, grabbed the bike, refired it and rode away. A friend that was chasing me is the one that told me I actually high sided. I couldn't believe how quickly it went from slip to on the ground. Not a mark on the helmet at all so I didn't hit my head.

i have had a couple good ones, and both times time slowed down. very clear recollection of events leading to my getoffs. and yes, rider error.

Been in two crashes, one was a low side slide where a truck merged into my lane and I rolled a good distance. The second I was doing about 45 MPH and some one turned left in front of me. The bike went end over end 3 times and totaled it out, but I remember thinking that this is gonna hurt and hitting the car.

Although, the second was a blessing in disguise as they paid me more for the bike than it was worth which allowed me to buy my 08 Hayabusa.

I remember heading into the turn...then waking up in the MRI machine. I don't even remember my first (and only) helicopter ride. Luckily very minimal damage to both me and the bike. Slight concussion, bruised ribs - screaming headache for a couple days. I did black out after the crash, but was "awake" when the amulance got there. At first I tried to remember, but since then, decided that it's probably better that I don't.

...
But I do not remember anything.
Zero.

Anybody else have this "amnesia"?

I got T-boned by a drunk who ran a red light and slammed square into the passenger side of the car I was riding in as a passenger. To this day, all I remember is coming to and seeing the fire truck and police and ambulance already there. I *know* that they did not appear instantaneously, but my perception says otherwise.

I remember seeing the car coming, then smash, then coming to with all the first-responders present.
