Do you cancel your insurance in the winter

i leave the bike 100% covered, the car i drop everything but comp...

as many have stated, bike insurance depending on where you live is usually an annual premium that is weighted towards the summer months...

Its actually why bike insurance is usually so much cheaper than auto, your only actually paying for riding 8 months and storage 4...

Besides, the premium on the busa is so tiny compared to the car that i dont really even notice its there...

I go from 100 dollars a month, to 20 when i store the car :)

I do not cancel in the winter though the ins company suggested for me to do it to save $200???

I said small price to pay rather safe then sorry besides then you can take of on whenever you feel the urge no matter what the weather is doing:beerchug:

I was just at my allstate office looking into this i always dropped the pro street car in the winter to comp only since once it went under the cover it was done till the cover came off, the bike they wouldnt let me drop the liability but would let me drop the comp, and while i'm not worried about anything happening in the garage, basically armored garage, alarm on house, bike and locks on rotors etc... My homeowners wont cover it if its in the garage, so for the money it wasnt worth it to risk. However i was able to drop my uninsured motorist on the bike since allstate has some thing that if you have it on the auto it extends to the bike policy..

Anyone know a good insurance co that will insure like hagerty or the car ones where its like a appraised stated value type coverage for custom bikes? Allstate is no help and even after having pictures in there they think the bike plus all the aftermarket could be covered for what book value is:rofl::rofl: I'm seriously willing to pay double what i do with allstate to get the coverage i want

I ride year round so I can't offer up any experienced options. Maybe reducing some coverage options while it's "winterized" will save a couple of bucks?.

statefarm, i drop everything but comp, homeowner covers everthing else.cost 5 or 10 dollars a month for 5 months so it is worth it to me.

I was told by my State Farm agent motor vehicles were not covered under homeowners. I would make sure just for piece of mind. This also included 4 wheelers, had to get a policy for it and receive a verification form just like a car or MC.

As for dropping coverage... almost made a big mistake and dropped coverage back in 1999 on a MC I had for sale at a dealership on consignment. Anyone remember OKC on May 3 1999? Tornado took out the dealership. My MC was not covered by the dealership. I collected from State Farm. A little more than I wanted for the MC. So, I will not drop coverage.

+1 I was told the same thing by allstate, he said in the 25 years he's been doing insurance he never saw a homeowners that covered vehicles in the garage. My parents said they'res did i told em to look into it and they werent to worried about it, hope they dont learn the hard way

Here in Manitoba we pay our premiums over the 5 month riding season, May to Sept. We don't save anything by cancelling after Sept 30th.

Our homeowners insurance doesn't cover bikes or anything esle that you need vehicle insurance to be on the road.

That's what my insurance guy told me, that the rates take into account that I can't ride much here in Iowa over the winter months. But it make me wonder if I really pay less than an identical bike/rider does say in Alabama.
