Here's my chrome grips. I love the looks. Comfort is fine. My only complaint is they seem like they may slip out of my gloved hands a little easier under hard acceleration.
Here's my set. I love the look but just as stated above, their a little rough without gloves on. I now have the polished throttlemiesters on and they look even better.
Love my chrome grips. I noticed NO added vibration from the change, but I do where gloves 99% of the time. With out the gloves my wedding band bothers my with grips.
To me, the points of rider/bike interface are the most critical aspects of comfort/control on the bike, I can't imagine for ME using a slick metal grip. I was never happier than when I spent twelve bucks for a set of Spider Racing grips that were more tacky than my three-year old stock grips-takes less gripping force to hold and move so the hands are more relaxed. Helps tremendously on long rides for fatigue and cramping.
For that matter, I've only found one pair of gloves I like out of 8-10 I've bought and resold- Joe Rocket Phoenix 3's. They have thin leather across the palm and fingers, with thick padded leather across the heel of the hand where you would touch down at impact. Riding with them and the Spider's I feel perfectly in tune with throttle/brake/clutch, when I switch to my Alpinestars GP Pro gloves they feel kind of numb in comparison- and those are full-on race gloves!
Just me- but if you are ever in the market for an inexpensive (sub-$50) pair of warm-weather gloves, give the Phoenix a try, you'll love them. Mesh back, leather where it counts.
Sorry for straying off-post, but I think the gentleman was already answered anyway...
