Does handling go away from tires???

MY PP are towards the end of their life. I have noticed the handling to be going away as well. Feels like the front tire is pushing (not holding line) like it use to. Is this normal for a tire towards the end? I have a new set and think I am going to swap them this weekend. Some corners scared me.

We often call this the 'Skydvr' rule....:laugh:

"if ye haveth new tires, ye should put'th them on'.....

I know what you mean on the tires and I agree with you, but like he said put the new ones on

sounds like you already have answers to your question :learn:

in my opinion, yes! i ran my front stock bt-015 to it's max life right around 6k. the feedback was extremely noticeable and very uneasy to ride. it's not worth taking the risk like i did so i would suggest to swap them out.

Thats exactly how it feels. Uneasy. I just figured since there is tread still left on it then it should be ok. I am going to swap them when I get some time. I just wont throw it into corners hard till then.

If you are worried about the grip swap it. Last thing you want to be thinking about are your tires, there are already enough other confidence deflating stimuli out there to worry about.

I think they do, think about how many heat cycles they have been through hot-cold-hot-cold. Can't imagine any tire will feel just the same one a 0 miles one at 3000. Another thing that will change will be the height of the center of the tire, giving them a different feel as well.

I always found the squaring off of the the rear to be more noticeable handling wise. Especially with the BT015. Switched to Michelin Road pilot 2 and they seem to wear a lot more even.

I've got a little over 8000 miles on my stock front tire and it seems to feel a little funny in the front end. Got a new one at the shop but I wanted to see how many miles I could get out of the original. Bout time to put it on I spect.

I just out a brand new set of piot powers on saturday,, derbycles.com has them for 110.00 for the rear and 73.00 for the front thats the cheapest ive found michlens on line anywhere,, and theres no tax and free fedex shipping two brand new michlen z rated pilot powers at my door step for 183.00 yee ha,,,,,,, P.s I noticed in the past if I had a bike push in a turn the tire pressure was low ,, I think mine calls for 42psI front and back,,,,could be what your problem is,,,,but i would still slap on 2 new ones for that price,,,plus their brake pads are 29,00 a set for the front { EBC}
check your tire pressure,,I bet its low

When you put on the new front tire it will feel like you now have power steering because of how easy it will be to turn the front end.

It sure does !

I love new tires !!

What I notice the most is when riding nothing but slab, the back tire squares off, then it wants to fight you in the corners.

Heat cycling (esp from hard riding) can break down the adhesives that bond the carcass to the belts. This will cause the tires to squirm under cornering load causing them to feel "uneasy." If you ride hard you will see the rubber turn blue from the adhesives out-gassing through the rubber (I had a set of stockers do this to me after a hard day in the canyons around here).
