Double Bubble Disapointment

Just got my db today and I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. Although the stock screen puts you a bit more into the air flow, that flow is so damn smooth I can ride at 75 mph with the visor up. The DB on the other hand moves the air up right at the neck causing a ton of wind noise and more buffeting. I have a tank bag on the bike
at all times so I can't actually tuck below the screen, so I am guessing that's the difference between my review and the others I have seen posted here.

Jimjib,

I haven’t noticed any change in the windblast or the buffeting but I can see my gauges and blinker indicators now. Well one good thing about the db is that it is one of the cheapest changes you can make to the busa.

I received and installed my DB last week. I haven't noticed any trouble with the wind, however, I was disappointed in the seam between the db and the fairing. Maybe I'm just being picky, but the stock screen was nearly perfect.

With that said, the db gives me such an improved view of my guages, the gap between the db and fairing is worth putting up with.

It might be that the wind blast is just effecting my particular helmet (simpson bandit) in a funny way, I think I am going back to the old setup.

Jim, I believe that Zero Gravity will refund your money if you are unhappy.

I found the screen to be a very good product as most who have installed the screen, maybe return it for the sport touring version that may work better for you.

Valklex - It just slides right in, nice and easy!!

Seriously, it's not difficult. If you've got the inner fairing "unbuttoned", then all you have to do is slide the db into place (with the rubber mounts already in the db hole) until the rubber mounts are lined up with the holes in the fairing. Then pry the inner fairing back enough to squeez your thumb and finger inside, grab the rubber mount and angle the mount toward the hole in the fairing. I was easily able to get a corner of the rubber mount through the fairing hole and then finish pulling it through with my other hand.

Because of the slightly imperfect fit of the db screen as compared with the stock screen, I lined much of the db "lip" with electrical tape for a tighter fit.

The setup works well. Good Luck!

Could someone please post the URL for this DB thing ? Very interested in the sport touring version.
Thanks in advance.

I still haven't been able to fit my db yet....how do those darn rubber grommets come out ????
Anyway it's too cold to ride here at the moment... -14C and plenty of ice and salt.

BigPete.... PULL........ they will pop out.

The DB does move the wind up a bit on your torso to your head. Bend over and your problems will be solved.

On my busa mods page you can clearly see the difference in height, and where the air will flow.

As far as the fit, ZG is thinner for better optics. To solve any squeaking or movement, use some electrical tape around the edges of the DB screen.

Jeffw - Hey man, that's what I'm always telling my girlfriend!! "Bend over and your problems will be solved."

What do you and Big Pete have going on???

J/K - the little rubber things pull out from the inside. Don't pull them to the outside. It's plenty easy if you loosen the inner fairing.

JimJib,

How long are you? I'm 6 feet 4 inches myself and have been almost screaming for someone of similar height for a ZG-DB report.

Seems like it may be my luck that you've tested this?

I have the sport touring shield and haven't really noticed much difference in the wind from stock. What I do see is my turnsignal indicators the top of my speedo and tach and my V1 remote display. All of which were hidden with the stock shield. I just pull the shield out the wellnuts come with it.

Factory (or somebody): I ordered the ZG DB last week. You talk of removing the grommets from the bike; what's the procedure to install the ZG? I ordered my dealer that when my bike arrives leave the screen off, but I need to know how to install the new one.
Thanks!

Man do you guy's know which end of a screw driver is which?

Can you adjust your chain?

Have you ever owned/wrenched a bike before? Granted some have not, but complain about this tough Mod??????????????????????

I mean go back and read the above, it sounds like an oral exam at the Ethel Walker School of Motorcycle Mechanics.

It is just two little rubber inserts, the OEM shield buzzed in may 99.

Does anyone know who Ethel Walker is?

I am not trying to sound like a Jerk but give me a break, yeah that ZG probably took a big bite from your turbo upgrade savings.

If you are offended I am sorry.
