I am tall and the stock screen sucks for tall people you can't see your gauges. I now have a DB and I love it. I have had them on my last 3 bikes and it is worth every penny. It might be different for short people but it is very necessary for tall people.

Im not to tall but the after market screens do help expically if youre touring or drag racing.

Is there ANYONE out there who COULD see the gauges with the stock screen?
Until reading this thread I never knew there were issues with not being able to see the gauges?

I'm 5'8" and the stock screen works great for me. Personally I don't care for the looks of the DB (or any mode that sticks out from the original sleek lines, including that "hump mod"). Any wind that hits me is directed towards the top of my full face helmet, so wind and bugs hitting my body is of no concern. I still wouldn't rule out having one to slap on my bike before long trips mainly to cut down on wind noise.

One of the best features of the Busa is how well it fits shorter riders like myself. I guess a ZX12 is more suited to taller riders. Sat on one of those butt ugly abortions at the local IMS show last week and I could barely get the tips of my toes on the ground.

I didn't like the look at first... it started to grow on me and then I got one... now it looks schweeeeeeet

I dont like it either. Had one , sold it , only good part was being able to see the gauges. I have cutup a stock screen , as soon as I get it painted Ill post a pic.

I can see all the gauges when sitting in the correct position. I'm not sure about getting a new windscreen. I've been riding around on mine and appreciate the wind's ability to keep me up and off my wrists, especially on long rides.

Since July, when I bought it, I find that I can see the instruments even better now than back then. Of course I've dropped about 35 pounds since then so there's not much of a belly in the way any more.

6'2" 205.5 lbs.

I gotta agree with you on this one, I prefer the look of the stock screen! It seems to flow with the look of the bike to me better than the DB. Just my .02 cents:)

I don't care for any of the aftermarket screens myself, I like the looks of the stock one. I'm 6'3" and half the gauges are cut off but not enough to really bother me. I don't really look at the speedo too much unless I'm bookin' and then I'm laying on the tank and see the gauges fine. If I need to look at the clock or gas I just sit back a little and viola.. there it is.

I'm 6' and 205. It's not that the stock screen obscures the entire instrument panel, it chops off about the top quarter, enough so that I couldn't see the entire gauges (or indicator lights) unless I ducked my head down a little.

The screen (and hump) were designed with aerodynamics in mind to smooth airflow over the rider/bike when the rider is in the fully crouched, chin-on-the-tank position. Personally I don't ride like that most of the time, and I appreciate the ability to see my gauges without having to get into the fetal position.

You're right about the 'Busa fitting shorter riders, I have a friend who is 5'7" and he finds it more comfortable than his GSX1000R (which he's lowering 2")

Stock screen is BEAUTIFUL...it follows the curve of the nose PERFECTLY. The DB totally kills the curve of the nose and looks extremely OUT OF PLACE.

Say what you want about function, but what I just said about look is true, and if you don't believe me...well never go into the business of building choppers... cause all I ever hear on American Choppper is: "it goes nice with the bike, it follows the curve real nice." So if you can't follow curves with your eyes, you sure won't be able to build 'em.

The only aftermarket screen that seems to keep the curve of the nose fairing is the sportech (not the V-flow) but the regular one. (There may be others, but I can't think of any.)

Love my DB for the optical quality. Works better for the camera, and being able to easily see my gauges is also a plus. Gives me a little more to tuck under when the cam is on the tank too. I agree that the lines of the stock windscreen look better, but IMHO I don't think the DB looks all that bad.

Another tall guy who cannot see the guages here. I actually thought the DB looks better also! Dark smoke goes so good with black...

All of you DB Haters need to get your eyes checked....

DB Doesn't belong? Sh!t follows the lines better than stock, allows an un-obstructed view of the gauges, and actually functions as a windscreen, something the stock screen just cannot do. Not to mention the ZG DB actually improves your vision when tucked. Stock screen is such a distortion heavy POS I consider it a hazard...
