Down!..   ..a car crashed us on red light..

wizard

Never Forgotten
..on a Thursday night (1:00) stopped on a red light, two up, with my girlfriend's BRAND NEW honda CBF-600 (I was driving..) already 5 seconds stopped, and suddenly..

BAAANG! ABSOLUTE TERROR.. the bike leaves the scenery in a hurry, way, way front, I'm flying in the air and see the stars and my life passes in front of me.. ..landing on the back of my HEAD (helmet on, no question about it!..) and my back, while pillion crashes vehicle's windshield with her head (helmet) and BOUNCES BACK ON ME! ..two people down, not moving one finger..

..my first thought when down was that my life is over anytime now, and what I managed to see is 10 VERY UNGRY pedestrians & other drivers (also bikers) heading for the car's driver with not the kindest words there are..

..I am finally moving hands & feet (must have been down for at least 2 minutes.. ..not moving at all..) and to my surprise I don't feel anything seriously broken.. ..same with girlfriend, carefully taking off helmets (after TRIPLE-checking we don't feel anything ..wet running through our necks..) and standing up..

..the woman driver of the assasin-vehicle could not justify HOW she tried to cross a red light by passing over us, and she was very certain the LIGHT WAS GREEN! ..after some persuasion by eye-witnesses (&$%*$#^#%..) she turned the light into ..yellow, and after the Officer said he would take her to the loonie-house because according to his evaluation "had no connection with surrounding environment.." the light turned to red (finally..)..

..ambulance comes, takes pillion to the hospital and I follow soon after.. ..not so serious injuries, only lots of pain (..and a little more red sauce..) and neck collars.. ..the bike looks like a million $ in change.. ..the woman said to me over the phone that "she stepped into the clutch and the brake, both feet on.." ..I said she should take the bus from now on.. ..and she said "funny you say that, my son says so also.."

Our lucky star.. ..noone believed we were up after this.. ..even the ambulance was notified to "pick up two dead casualties!"..

oh, and she had her headlights off.. ..didn't see a thing coming through mirrors (I am always watching).. ..it was like "the silent, invisible death approaching".. kind-a-thing.. ..pretty scary, now I wake up at nights, bringing the scenery in front of my eyes over and over.. ..I guess it will take some time..

..yesterday I rode my busa.. ..no big deal, just a little 50 mile ride to see if i can still do it.. ..I'm okay, only I am scared shitless of what can run into you in the middle of the night with lights off, driven by creatures with their eyes off, as well..

..ride safe!..

What an adventure! Stupid biotch definitly should be riding the bus..
Glad that you and your lady was able to walk away from it all, for the most part~
The bike can be repaired to like new quality.. the human body isn't always so lucky~

MAN, THAT BLOWS... Sorry to hear it Wizard, Glad you had your gear on and are still moving around.

That driver shouldn't be allowed to drive or ride anything...
in fact, it sounds like she might be dangerous walking...
Glad to hear you are OK...
Ride safe...

I, for one, have always been paranoid of that exact scenario.  Sounds like you are always looking in your mirror too... I am just glad u are ok and here to tell us about it.

Wizard has a good point. Lets all be more aware to check your mirrors as you slow to a light/stop sign and while u are stopped at a light/stop sign!  Also, check both ways before entering an intersection when the light turns green.  There's always a clown running a light.  Just because the light turns green, doesn't mean to gun it without looking.  Check first please.

sad.gif

man.. you gotta watch yer butt dude.. haha What am I gonna do with all your stuff if you get greased by some loser in a cage??

good to hear your ok man.

I am very happy that you guys could walk away from that crash. Yes very very scary.

That's a situation that has always concerned me too, but what can you do? I try to always look in the mirrors and to be prepared to goose it and get out of the way if I see one coming, but they can come up so fast that you can do nothing.

im with bass boss sue her ass. Glad u and your chick r ok. thats why i dont like riding two up because, even if it wasnt my fault i wouldnt be able to live iwht my self if i were responsiable for someones death. I constantly check my mirrors all the time two but what if ur at a red light traffic goin through and u see lights comin behind u, you cant really go throgh the light, and if you hop of the bike there is a chance you get ran down and not the bike, what do u do?

SCREW THE MIRRORS!!!! I stand up and physically look back to see if anyone is coming and if they are stare them down untill they stop behind me.

My mom had a friend who had the same thing happen to her son and he wasn't as lucky!!!!

Someone is watching over you and your lady man. But how much damage did your bike take?

I'm always afraid that's going to happen. Glad everyone is alright. I'm sure the docs want you in for a follow-up visit in a week or so.. don't blow that off. Stuff can creep up on you in the coming weeks (just a warning, don't meant to creep you out).

..thank you all, people.. ..it's good to see you care..

update follows..

Injuries: not much to cater for really, the girl will still be wearing a neck collar until Friday, and has some degree of headaches. Physical exams didn't reveal anything to be worried about. My back and neck are still in pain, but not damaged in any way - just the muscles were seriously streched. Will be heading for a "special" church this Sunday (all of us "fast bikers" go there.. ..it's conveniently sited at the end of a 120 miles VERY demanding & fast ride..
smile.gif
) to light up a candle..

Bike (CBF-600): All around plastics ruined, rear wheel & arm, check up on frame in professional frame calibration experts. Total is expected to go over $3000. Insurance of the French Sherman substitute will fix the bike new (it was new, anyway.. ..one week new!..). If they "play it by the ear" I will sue their asses for mucho denaro..

Lawsuit: We have decided AGAINST pursuing further for injuries. The reason is that the Courts of Civil cases have POSTPONED their sessions until Olympics are over - and the cases accumulated are litterally thousands.. If we pursue for minor injuries (in Greece if nothing's broken = you're ok, get up and walk!..) the compensation for the bike will be ruled consecutively, so we are looking at Olympics 2008!.. F*** that, give us the bike money and we'll just pretend we fell off the stairs.. ..yep, it's that good..

..Be careful out there, the unexpected is becoming the rule - and when it does you become a statistic.. ..plain n' simple..

Wizard,
Glad to know that you are okay. You won't really feel all of the pain until the second or third day after the wreck. I've been through a couple of wrecks and one of them was only three weeks ago. I suppose your driving conditions are similar to the conditions here in Sarajevo. After all we are just a few hours away from each other.

Wizard, glad you guys weren't too badly hurt. This kind of thing is never good, but sounds like you two are doing better than most. Take it easy, man.
