(semi @ Nov. 29 2006,05:09) build a small well-insulated closet in a corner to put the compressor in to reduce noise levels
Build it on the exterior away from the beerigerator and sofabed with babes, etc.

I have plans for a garage of that size with a room upstairs. Would give yo a great hangout place and plenty of room for your bike, cars, tools etc. Also would give you a smaller space to heat and cool if you didn't want to heat the whole space. I.m going to make mine into a recording and jam room.

I've got carpet down where I park the bike. Makes it nice and comfy to get down and clean the underside. Maybe some halogen track lighting to set off the busa.

"Nice and comfy?"

Okay, your man-card is revoked.

Air compressor, Big Toolbox, Fridge, Lots of electrical outlets, and plumb the whole thing from the start for your Aircompressor! Next... Painted floors, finished walls and if you can afforded it matching cabinets. As mentioned above be sure and get a lift, but you have to make sure your ceilings can support the extra height required. Car or Motorcycle, heck why not both?. Last of course a TV, Flat screen LCD that you hang on the wall! Went this route cause they cost half as much as a plasma. Next airline tickets for the Org cause I'm sure were going to want to come hang out.

Internet connection. Nothing like having unlimited resources when you are stuck looking for a part number.

Oh, and scantily clad women serving the beverages.

(DonnieF @ Nov. 29 2006,18:56) I dont know if you are into this look or not , but in my own shop instead of trimming with baseboard in wood. I used this http://www.diamondlifegear.com/moldings.htm              it is actually plastic but you cant tell , it looks like shiny diamond plate. Gives a very manly look to your shop.
great idea thanks
+1 this is cool stuff

speaking of garages, I just brought a house in plainfield, Il with the ultimate garage, 1000 sq. ft. heated and ac over 30 outlets plus 220 volt, sink, and no beam in the middle so you can park anyway you want. closings on jan 26. all i got to do is sell my condo in downers grove, IL
the guy who built the house two years ago is a car junkie and he sold the house cause he needed more garage space

Vaulted Ceilings for room, unless you want overhead storage. Automatic Garage Door opener. Enough lights so there are no shadows. Beer fridge, Microwave Oven, TV, Dart Board, Folding Poker table, Exterior Compressor, Air lines in the ceiling with hose spools so you do not have to drag air lines around. Maybe close off a 10 x 10 corner for an office.

Here a pic of mine. 24' x 24'. I would get a better picture but it is sleeting outside right now.

If'n you go with the stripper pole, make sure to fasten it to the floor and ceiling real good. Also, somewhere there needs to be a "weight limit" sticker....this will hopefully avoid embarrasing moments and possible legal issues if the big girls show up. Can never be too careful.....

What everybody else said + Bi-level or tri level lighting (you can never have enough light) and don't forget the PS3 and some decent games!

(heavybusa @ Nov. 28 2006,18:01) Sink, TV, Radio, Lift, Standing Tool Box, Work bench, Cabinets, Flourecent lights, Dirty posters, a phone, internet, an old couch.

That should be a good start.

Sounds like my garage minus the couch and girly posters

.  I will next be replacing my manual up and down  garage screed door with a motorized one this spring. Having windows are a plus but with the screen door you get more than enough sunlight and ventilation minus the bugs during the day and mosqutios at night.

Heres what I have now.

Garage screen door  1.

To be replaced with 725 motorized unit.

725 motorized screen garage door.

Also a overhead retractable electric cord would come in handy and  wall mount fan or one that you can place ontop of your frig to avoid taking up floor space. Also a nice expoxy floor covering to keep the moisture down while making it look nice. Qwick Qwrete at  LOWEW offers an epoxy system that can be colored matched to your decor in the garage, which I have used with success but will be stepping up to a removalbe floor cover because I tend to be rough on floors.

This is what I will be covering my floor with later on this year.

Floor covering.

The topic was dream garage not house.

You got automatic drains on the air? We don't like moisture in our tires. Wonder how much a small automatic dryer would run ya? I mean if you can affoard a house for your Busa

Well since dude houses his Busa I don't think he's worried about no fan. Didn't you see the heatpump? Turned an attic fan from lowes into a nice shop fan that could be rolled around and had two speeds - easy breeze and keeping the criters away

the 220 VAC will be good for the wire welder you'll need.

I am a long ways away from being done with mine...but one thing you've gotta have;

Heat! Taken last nite. Outside temp was about 18. Inside about 65.

Next year I'm gonna snag a window A/C unit to put out there...
