ECHR Spring Ride 07

(Big E @ May 02 2007,16:31) I was part of the lead group.  We were no where near 110 mph.  As in for Hydra.  Everything looked unreal.  He crashed into the mountain hard.  His bike went head over.  Jeff did a full revolution before he hit the ditch.  Thanks to all who set up the ride.  Thanks for GPW for picking up Jeff and his bike.
Thanks Big-E. And I would add that Jeff's accident, while tragic, happened after he broke off from our ride and went his own way to do some more twisties. His accident was in no way associated with our riding dynamics as a group, as he was not part of the group at the time of his accident.

(VaBusa @ May 02 2007,17:04) And please keep us posted on Jeff

I'm so sorry to hear that he went down...

lincoln2313, I concur with what Tom said and although I didn't make this particular ride, I can tell you that they are the best group of guys to ride with, hands down...people make decisions in the heat of a moment, everyone makes mistakes and some don't regret 'em and that's fine...we each are only expected to do what's within our limits and no more.  You'll be missing out on some great rides and wonderful friendships should you choose to not particpate...
Thanks Michelle. In all the rides we have done as the ECHR group (since 2002), this one certainly posed some challenges. First, there were popos everywhere trying to get their end-of-the-month quotas in (that sickens me in the first place, what do they do all month, eat donuts?), and just hearing about all the accidents at the Bash made some of us a little nervous. And, if you are supersticious, which I am not, we has 13 bikes. I enjoyed the ride, most of it, and I will say again that these things normally don't happen on our rides. Some of the ECHR old-timers can attest to that. Anyway, to each his/her own. Hope you can make the next ride. Thanks for the support.

Tom.

Dude,
If you have a problem with the ride, take it up with the ride coords.  Do not get on this PUBLIC forum expose issues that should be addressed in a private forum.   I have a lot more to say but I will save it for now.  We ride hard, We ride safe, AND we ride TOGETHER.  We don't expose our Bro's.

Tom, Darryl's post wasn't directed at you...

No offense to anyone that posted here, but I've cleaned up the initial complaint to protect our riders...no one was hurt, no one jailed and I'm sorry if some didn't agree with what was done, but this public forum is no place to call 'em out...

Rec'd complaint, so I gladly cleaned things up...

Ride safe my ECHR guys!!! I'll see you later this year!!

It's hard to judge the content of one's character by basing judgement on an isolated incident.  People sometimes make split-second decisions that they might not make if they had more time to plan out and ponder all of the possible ramifications.  I remember riding above the speed limit with a group one time and "manning up" to my actions when I pulled over early from the rear of the pack so I could take the fall and let the other riders continue on.   I know they would have done the same for me if I was in the lead.  Have you considered that perhaps the rider or riders who fled did so perhaps not only to save their own skin, but to draw the popo away from the rest of the group?  Reckless?  Perhaps.  Smartest thing to do?  Probably not.  Split second decision that once made cannot be undone?  Definitely.

This is a great group of friends and riders.  It's unfortunate things got off to such an "exciting" start on this ride, and I can understand it might not have been the best first impression for any new riders.  If this is the case, rest assured this was definitely the exception rather than the rule.  Let's just say that I don't think any of us will be trying out for Las Vegas Extremes in the near future.

As always, our rides remain any and all welcome.

Thanks Michelle.  I was going to ask that of you as well. And I know D's post wasn't at me, D and I are great buddies.

Tom.

Man... I missed this ride. Sounds like yall had fun.

Maybe I've got bad karma that washed over everyone... I wrecked on the 22nd... Then some at the bash... then Hydra...

Hydra, I wish you the best, from the sounds of things, you had a wreck that was close to what I had...
