NEED HELP! ANYBODY EVER USED THIS STUFF? I PUT IT IN 2 WEEKS AGO IN MY O1 BUSA AND ABOUT A WEEK LATER SHE STARTED RUNNING REAL HOT AND PISSING OUT THE BOTTOM. I FOLLOWED THE FLUSH PROCEDURE EXACTLY. I BELIEVE THE WATER PUMP SEALS ARE SHOT, BUT I AM UNSURE. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I NOTICED A WHITE EMULSION IN THE OVERFLOW AND THE MECHANIC HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS. I READ IN MY HAYNES MANUAL THAT IT WAS A CLEAR SYMPTOM FOR A BAD WATER PUMP DUE TO THE SEALS. I TOOK THE WATER PUMP APART AND NOTICED SOME FRAY WEAR ON THE RUBBER LINED WASHER WHERE THE BOLT GOES INTO THE IMPELLER. I AM ORDERING A NEW PUMP UNLESS OTHERWISE. PLEASE HELP. THANKS

I know several people who changed out their coolant with either engine ice or water wetter for the track and just left it in. Most track day organizations around here will not let you participate unless you do this as coolant on the race track after a crash causes them to close it down and spend hours cleaning it! None of them (myself included) has ever had a problem where the engine ice or water wetter was to bklame that I know of. Works fine in my 1991 F2....no problems after 2 years.

I put EngineIce in my 02 'busa about 5500 miles ago and haven't experienced any problems. This includes a 4500 mile ride with temps from 38 degrees in Canada to 107 degress in Idaho.

I haven't noticed any significant increase in the engine temp. The temp gauge has stayed under the mid-line pretty consistantly.

Same here... No problems with Engine Ice in my scoot either

Yeah, if the seals are showing wear, perhaps that's your best bet, I would say. Though, that doesn't explain why this happened immediately after you changed out your coolant; unless, perhaps, the washer was already going to heck and Engine Ice is a much more thin liquid than your traditional coolant?...

Just thinking out loud here with you. Good luck...

I APPRECIATE THE FEEDBACK. I AM LEANING TOWARD THE WATER PUMP MALFUNCTION. THANKS AGAIN

Your water pump is fine you ave air in your system and you need to even it out. Also you don't use water with the engine ice that will cause problems due to it's chemical charactristics.

How would you do this, GC? I am thinking about doing this also.
I used one whole container of engine ice (half gallon?) and a small part of a second one. I drained the coolant (and a nasty black green it was with white scum in the bottom of the overflow tank), filled with water and ran the bike, drained it again and repeated one more time. Then I filled with engine ice, ran the bike with the radiator cap off, squeezed the hoses to get a couple of bubbles out and closed it up.

Thanks for the info.

?? Actually I thought it was because it was pre-mixed with de-ionized water.

Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant TM is pre-mixed at a 1:1 ratio with de-ionized (DI) water...
and

Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant is premixed with de-ionized water to protect your water cooling system from scarring, scaling and to effectively provide "prolonged optimum operating temperatures."
THANKS G.C. I DID NOT ADD WATER TO THE ICE COOLANT. I WILL REASSEMBLE THE PUMP AND GET RID OF THE AIR BUBBLES BETTER THIS TIME AROUND.

I did this yesterday and had the same issue. Starter her up and after a couple minutes the temp was way up and the fan didn't kick on. Shut her down and after she cooled off I was able to get the air out of in the system. I haven't taken the bike for a ride, but did let it sit at idle for about 10 minutes and she didn't go higher than the mid-line. I am going to take her for a spin today and then make sure there is no air because I was hoping she would be below the mid-line. Thanks for all the help.

BIGBSBUSA: THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO MY BIKE. I THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY FOR A SECOND. I AM TRYING MINE OUT IN THE MORNING.
