Engine Ice

Engine Ice does not drop the temp like they say it would. Maybe a little but not 50 degrees. You must drain and flush before putting it in, and do not mix with water, its already mixed.( Yes I have Engine ice in my R1)

The benifit? Track organizations do not allow anti freeze. It must be replaced by water, redline, or in some cases engine ice. Not all of them like the engine ice though. They want this so you dont spill slippery crap all over.

This stuff sounds awesome! I've added water-wetter to both my bikes but that dos'nt help much. I was also looking at Muzzy fans and installing manual switches but that sucks. The 750 gets very hot. How much is Engine Ice? Where can I buy it in Canada?

@ less than $40 to purchase enough to do this, I figure its fairly cheap protection. Heck I had to swap it out as part of the 2yr service anyway, so I figured why not

I'm also going to put a muzzy fan in, but want to see how it does on the ice alone

Nice I will try this before the summer because I DO LIVE IN TEXAS hahaa.
Also When I first got the bike, The bike ran really hot, and it cooked my boys and everything lol, but after I popped in 1 quart of oil it was noticebly cooler from then on. The bike would get hot, but would only go past the halfway mark where the fan comes on. Will a muzzy fan make a big difference? if so, I will do both Engine Ice and muzzy fan :-)

I'm interested in this stuff. I got hot ( red line) in daytona a couple times idling for 45 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic. The fan can do so much in those situations, but I was not getting much airflow at all. The dealer says it is normal. I also had the idle turned up a little bit. Just under 2000. I think it shifts and runs smoother that way.
Hey Diesel,
Do you have the stock fan? I just put my Muzzy fan on and my needle hasn't moved from the center since. I am also sitting in b2b traffic but our temps don't yet match what you saw in Daytona. I am wondering if swapping the fan is good enough or if you should do both?
Yes, stock fan. Even all last summer the bike never got hot, but it never sat and idled THAT long. What's this muzzy fan?

Muzzy is an aluminium relacement fan for the stocker, with an extra blade to make it more efficient.

I kinda of just swapped the fan one day when I had the fairings off to do my screens. Three bolts, one connector and three screws. Pretty simple job took less than a half hour (not counting fairing removal) Fan feels like it's pushing air much better now. The fan was like $34.00....

Cooler engines make more power.  With too much heat, you loose your power, it zaps it.
You know, Iv'e read a handful of posts off this site advocating engine Ice and saying cooler is better.

But then I found a site on Evans NPG+.

I guess it's a waterless coolant that boils at a very high temperature. They claim that it will allow your bike to operate safely at higher temps because the coolant won't boil. They advocate modifying your thermometer to not allow your fan to go on...to allow your bike to reach a higher temperature (and they say this is perfectly safe for the bike because the coolant can operate safely at the increased temp.)

And the whole reason behind it is that they say: that hotter engine temps equal more horsepower. (which is contradictory to the quoted post.)

So which is it?

I am also wondering about the freezing/corrosion protection, Freezing's not much of an issue where I am at, but corrosion protection is important to all.

I installed what I call my "Daytona switch": a rocker switch to let me manually activate the fan. No more high temps when in traffic jams.

You are gonna need two--- Completely drain and flush the radiator and add 2..Oh remember to BURP the radiator

the muzzy fan is all you need . in the heat the stock fan will flex to much and not cool you off
