Engine or transmission noise after tentioner recall correction?????

I had the tentioner recall repair done. Now I am experiencing a knock in the transmission when I pull off. This only occurs when the engine is good and hot. In addition, when I put the bike on a center stand and put the bike in gear, I hear a tremendous grinding/rattling in the transmission. Has anyone had this problem? If so HELP. I have had the bike in the shop three times and this summer is pretty much shot. All I get from the mechanics is that they checked everything, the noise is still there, and ride it more, it might go away. My bike is no longer under warenty and I don't want major damage in the future. One last thing, when bike is turned off and in gear, I can turn the wheel about two chain links(1.5 inches) before the gearing stops the tire's motion. Is this much play in the gearing normal? If not, does anyone know how to tighten up the excess play in the gearing. I really believe this is the source of my annoying knock. ANY AND ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Sincerely,

Big Busa Lover

Check your Adjustment on your rear tire for Chain slack and go by the manuel. The noise your hear in your transmission might be something serious, try changing your oil to look for any metal parts also another good idea when doing the oil change remove the plate for the clutch unit and check for any loose bolts, I notice that some members have removed the clutch itself and resoaked their plates overnight for proper clutch plate lube.My clutch noise happens when it is cold and goes away when I press in the clutch.Still have the chain tensioner noise.Did notice when I switched over to 87 oct gas my temperture went down a notch, not sure if the gas had anything to do with it,also with the lower octan no change in performance, still runs great.Good luck

A couple of inches, 2-3, of tranny slack is normal.

Noises are not. Like Cisco said earlier
drain the oil and run a magnet through the oil. Perhaps filter it through a coffee filter too.

I read here that someone putting a clutch mod on, noticed that some bolts were backing out. When the oil is out pull the clutch cover, get a bright light and eyeball everything carefully.
