man this is a 50/50, i ran a plug for a month or two and didn't feel comfertable at high speeds, so i replaced it. some peopel will tell you they run plug all the time and haven't ever had a problem, i guess its how comfertable do you feel with it in...
I have plugged mine several times, but then again I don't ride that agressively. So for the most part, I don't have any problems with it. Now if I was going to be doing high speed runs, some curves, heating up the tires good, etc.. I would want a new tire.
This shot was taken about 30 miles out of town, no tire kit either. Just happened I was able to call a friend who was in the area with his truck...
Now I have a tire plug kit with co2 cartridges under the hump...
I guess it depends on the type of riding you do. 90% of my time is 65 mph and above since I really only tour. So, pluging and keeping the tire on the bike is NOT AN OPTION for me. I really don't need to worry about a tire while doing 75 mph for extended miles (150 to 180 miles at a time) , or at night. Although I don't do much night travel any more.
Same thing happened to me with a rear tire (Qualifier) with less than 100 miles on it. I had it patched and put about 1+k miles on it with no problem. I sometimes will take her up over 100 mph. I would never plug a tire.
i have had this happen twice to me with fairly new tires and they was both replaced before i road again. 175 dollars isnt worth takin the chance of it jeopordizing ur bike or urself!
Had that happen to me a while back, except I was doing about 160 mph when I felt something wasn't quite right..I pulled over & had a decent size hole in my tire...I plugged it up, thinking that it would be a short term fix but ended up using the tire till I needed a new one..Had no problems what so ever with it...
our local shop will not plug tires, i have had to use fix flat to get back home twice, i felt sorry for the mechanics that fixed my tire im sure i paid for it tho
I have plugged a tire with no problems. I think anyone with common sense will adjust their driving habits while riding a plugged tire. But, it ain't gonna pop out. Ride it, check it, then buy a new tire when you have the chee$e!
