Expensive lawn mower?

I am thinking about this Toro 22188 to replace my old Craftsman. See, mowing is a chore and I would like a machine to reduce the effort and increase the results. I have no problem forking out the $1200 for this machine but my wife might have a heart attack. I prefer to mulch and my current mower is not good at it at all, not a fan of bagging. Is this my cure?

I bought this one this year for the office and it rocks..

it has a variable speed (faster you push, faster it goes with no effort) It will take you to a trot if you can keep up..

CAVEATS: I found where a number of people bent the cranks.. I suspect they hit big stuff to do this.. I went ahead and purchased anyway and have not had a lick of problem.. (I mow 1.5 acres with it every week)

John Deere at Lowe's: 8.75 Torque JS45 21" Cut Self-Propelled Gas Mower

was $480 on sale... I will never buy another cheap mower after this thing...

I only use a push mower on smaller portions of the yard and dog lots...$1200 for a push mower seems a bit steep to me~!~

Unless of course it comes with a remote control, lawn chair, and beer holder~!!~

I put my larger investment in the riding mower...but that's just me - my yard needs a rider~!~

Bought a Honda self propelled in 1986, still starts on one pull after the first spring start. It takes two pulls of the starter after sitting all winter.
Wife can start it also....

Cheap push mower and a friend with a four wheeler. Let him drive and you sit on the front rack holding on to the mower. I saw two guys doing this one day. Funniest stuff I've seen in a while:laugh:

+1 on the honda. Bought mine new in 1987 with first house. Still rockin after all these seasons. Cut about 1.5 acres with it every week. Just change oil and plug each year..

That's a bagger, I guess it comes with a mulching kit ???

I've always bought the Snappers

HR-214?

Sounds like the same one I have. I love my Honda mower...

I'd avoid the Toro's. Check around on the reviews. Even the more expensive models have a bad rep.

Honda HRX with the Hydra-Static drive is top notch. I have an older, 10 years, version that still run's like a top. Expect to pay $800 or so but it's a high quality piece of equipment.

You only buy quality once.

I am a cub cadet man...

but i have always liked the SNAPPER name! yes thats a george carlin reference
