I don't know if you've ever owned a Busa but you have to shift like you mean it from 1st to 2nd and 5th to 6th. If you don't you'll find yourself in neutral. That's not the bad second gear issue, that's an operator issue.
Taking around the block ain't gonna work.... it could but you really need 2 get on it through the gears. I'm talking about shifting @ redline. That's how you'll know and that could be potentially dangerous on a city street with traffic etc. Best to take it on a back road or hammer it coming of an on ramp onto the highway where you have the room to accelerate without something or someone crossing your path especially if your not familiar with the bike
The Gen2's have a undercut on 2nd gear. This helps the
gear mesh better and stay in 2nd. On a Gen1 there is no
problem with 2nd, but if you abuse the bike, or don't shift
it properly the gear can slip out under power...operator
error. The fix is to pull the trans and undercut the gear.
