Guys, need a bit of help here, over the winter I plan to make a few changes to the Busa. As I only ride twisties and plan a few track days I was thinking about shortening the wheel base. Now I have seen threads on using a gsxr1000 K2 swinging arm, shock and gsxr 600 linkage, these items are available on fleabay for not a lot of Bucks. Or should I go for the easy route, remove 2 links in the chain and run a 43 tooth rear cog. I have the ride height +1â€￾ at the rear and 190x 55 rubber. Has anyone tried these mods and are the results worth it :beerchug::bowdown:

Not sure about shortening the wheelbase but +1 in the rear and 180/55 is where I would think would be a good start.

Camaro guy did it changing out the swingarm a while back. He posted up pix all about it. Not sure if you can search and find it. Not sure if he's been around these parts in a while either.

Please be careful, she will react very different with a shorter wheel base.

+1 in the back, -1/2 in the front. 190/55s. With 16/42 sprockets and the stck swingarm, the rear tire is as close to hitting the swingarm as I'm comfortable with.

I am +1 in the back and I love it the busa just falls into turns.

Hey Mike, Lamb has heard that shortening the wheelbase makes the front end very light.....................Very Light. Try to lower the front a 1/2 inch like whipped says. This is all you need. Charlesbusa rides the busa like a demon on the track. He passes 600's and 750's alike.......................right in the corner.......................like nothing. Spend more time on increasing the size of your balls. Cause that's what it really takes to go fast!!:poke:

And have the suspension tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. The correct weight springs and sag, compression, rebound settings make a world of difference.

Need I say more?? :beerchug:

And +1 with Big Ballz. It does take some sac to learn to go thru the corner a lil' bit faster. But once you have that figured out.....

@ Lamb: what is this west coast busa meet n ride your sig speaketh? Scar's Reno Stampede?

So from this thread I have learnt that big balls are required to go fast  not quite my question Guys, have only lowered the front of my old Gixer 11. How do you do it on a Busa, say lower front 5mm ???

Delboy, you already have the rear raised an inch plus a 190/55 rear which raises the rear an additional 5mm. If I were schooling you, I'd suggest you learn to trail brake into the corners. If you want to be fast, you must be on the brakes or on the throttle 100% of the time and trail braking is a must. As you get faster, I think you'll find you already have to much lift in the rear. When you tip into a corner while still on the brakes with the front collapsed you'll find the bike wants to fall on it's face. Rule of thumb around our camp is 5mm of rear lift is max on a fast bike. The slower you go, the more rear lift you can get away with.

Remember, the more lift you get in the rear the less Rake & Trail you have. You also change the swingarm angle whenever you raise or lower your bike. Swingarm angle is EXTREMELY important to achieving a fast bike.

As you get faster and faster you will find increased lap time has little to do with HP, it's all about suspension.

Question

One suggestion is to raise the back 1/2"

The other is to lower the front 1/2"

And of course bigger balls is always a plus

But, I am confused as to which is best and what is the difference between the two Front down or back up as to turn-in and handling?
