Fathers right/Tough Parenting or Child Abuse?

As long as the child wasn't hurt, i won't question the Dad's decision. It would be nice to leap ahead 25 years and see how this boy turns out.

either mentally unstable or a complete badass. or possibly some combination of the two.

I think that's too extreme. In this country however, we are way to soft. We are raising generations of vag's.

Not the government's business. We don't need a "illegal to make your child run thru the snow nekkid" law. However, if the man's neighbors wanted to strip him and make HIM run down the street in the snow, I'd probably participate in that :)

You can't legislate stupid...or wait, maybe you can.....

no big deal. the kid will CHOOSE to do this on his own later in life anyway in college, with a beer in his hand

Plenty of crap going on in our own backyards to worry about. Take care of home first, we have enough issues. Let China worry about China.
Ever get a bill for $0.25?
Next.

That's funny right there!!

I call that abuse simply based on the fact that it's a 4-year old child and at such a young age, he doesn't fully understand the punishment. It only scares him and he's looking to his Dad to help him...punishment isn't punishment when it's completely misunderstood by a child; that's when it becomes abuse.

This happened in NY, correct? :poke:

i dont think the boy is being necessarily abused, alot of places and/or have funky traditions. while they are things i wouldnt make my child endure, in some places in the world its pretty irrelevant.

OWNED. Don't know if I'd have shot off my pistol in what is clearly a residental neighborhood though. Some liberal is probably screaming "child abuse" about now...

looks like it could be rural to me though? just because theres a house around doesnt mean its "residential city" one of my buddies rented a place in oregon that looked kind of like that, and on the others side was wide open for miles.

im more concerned with where he's getting exploding holla point rounds for a dolla

It's not child abuse, it is being a bit harsh though. Making him run near naking in the streets, in the snow, while everyone is watching...way to go DAD. Don't see him getting dad of the year award but still not abuse. Now that second video is funny, but instead of destroying a laptop I just do not allow my daughter to have a facebook period. No myspace not nothing. She is not 18 yet, so none of the social networks will corrupt her.

Stupid yes, abuse no. I was a hard head and when I was 3 I wouldn't put on shoes at the beach, so my parents said fine. They have a home movie of me dancing on pavement, crying, and heck no I'm not gonna carry you. I wouldn't do any of this stuff, but none of it is abuse.

Looking at the news the last few days I don't think he was disiplining the child. One report said he was making the kid execise, running, push ups and sit ups as a part of some training regimen.

So I am guessing he is mimicking being in Tibeth as a part of his shao-lin training.
