Fender eliminator

So you guys using the "Free Method" are cuting the license plate light off, and wiring up some LEDs? Is that the only permanent modification to this method? Just scared to cut the wires on anything on this new beauty!

just use the outside rails for the reflector mounts that way you can use the two factory screw holes closer to the seat. and bend it alittle it looks better.

I got the competition werks one because it came with the light and it is a quality piece made from shat that won't rust. There's cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Check out the Evotech one on Ebay.  It's not the cheapest but I have just got mine and I recon it's worth every penny.  The quality is superb, it even comes with a nifty led license plate lamp.  The fitting instructions are great and the fitting kit even comes supplied with a spare led bulb. A very professional kit imho.

The UK Busa do not have rear reflectors so we cannot use the brackets from them, but I would very highly recommend the above kit, by fat the best I've seen.
It may work well for European plates, but with US plates they force you to use cheesy adapter brackets...

Hey, so just wondering, anyone have an answer for the "Free" Method, about the factory plate light? I have not taken mine apart yet, hesitant to to toy with my new baby. I just want if it is necessary to cut the wire in order to do the fender eliminator for the "Free" method, or actually any of the aftermarket kits too. I am assuming you do, but did not want to assume. Thanks!

If you use the free hardware you already have to make the tag bracket you could just unplug the plate light wire under the seat - there is a connector there.
If want to add your own plate lighting you will have to splice the wire. Depends on if you want a light on the plate or not. I wired up a Custom Dynamics LED plate to be completely legal and I am very satisfied with it.

Thanks that is what I thought, just wanted to make sure before I started splicing. WHen you say under the seat, I am assuming you mean the passenger seat or is it actually under the main seat? Lastly, does anyone know if there is a harness available that can be pluged in and then wired to an aftermarket plate light or LED? Really don't want to cut or splice into the factory wiring, but I will if that is my oly option.

Thanks for all the info!

I'm in the same boat here. I would have already done this mod, but thought you had to cut wires. So the plug is under the rear seat?

Another thanks to Joker

Cheers from the Beer State. Also now looking for a way to light up the back end. It get's a little from the tail light but just not quite enough.

Great info guys!
I made mine tonight, although I set it up a little different so that way it sits further back from the tail light.
Don't want the cops to get a good look at my plate while I'm on the run
