You got it done at Powerhouse right? I remember you did your GPS mod as well. I'm sure the turbo will take you beyond the 186 limit and 11k rpm real fast. Turbos are supposed to pull esp with the added torque. It may not feel like it'll rip yer arms off but against other sportbikes, all they'll see is you pulling away even further by a country mile.it's a hahn , full exhaust , 248hp with 7lbs of boostbe carefuldid you say you have only been riding ONE YEAR! and already on a Turbo Busa. what type of turbo?
well i got it to about 160 mph real quick and burnt a piston real quick .I'm sure the turbo will take you beyond the 186 limit and 11k rpm real fast.
Add more fuel/use a race fuel mix...Sorry that you burnt your motor...well i got it to about 160 mph real quick and burnt a piston real quick .I'm sure the turbo will take you beyond the 186 limit and 11k rpm real fast.
now i am going to try to get the bike in shape to put the gps mod to good use . i gotta figure out what i need to do to make it reliable on pump gas
No if it was done right you would not burn pistons unless you were running top ends for 4-5 seconds. If you were running 7lbs of boost for about 250hp you most likely did not have enough fuel or negative timing. You also could have boost creep. What makes you think that you melted a piston?? Did you scope the piston or take the head off. You could have also bent or melted a valve or did some head damage. Make sure of what you have before you do anything.Y would the piston burn if it was done right? what am i missing? I really need alot more knowledge on turbos
You mentioned your problem in this first post...If your set at 7pds of boost then the gauge should not have shown beyond that amount...When you started to see a spike to 10pds we all should have warned you...Sorry I missed this...Had you or any of us caught this it is possible that the burnt piston could have been avoided...i just got my bike back yesterday with the turbo on it
i put about 600 miles on it so far , all in all it is pretty cool thus far . it is my first time riding a turbo bike and it didnt seem as fast as i thought it would . it is a very mild set up . it made 248.6 hp on the dyno at 7 lbs of boost . on the street i have seen the gauge go to 10 lbs .i know that might sound like very low hp to everyone as far as turbo busa's go , but i wanted to start out slow cause i have only been riding bikes for a year . i am running a full exhaust with it , the bike has the stock arm and 18/40 gearing
it definately must be accelerating way faster than before but it is so smooth it dont seem as fast as i thought it would . it does lift the wheel in third gear so i know it must be pulling way harder than it was stock .
before i got the bike back i was thinking that 250 hp may have been overkill on the stock swingarm . today while i was acelerating i was wondering what 350hp would feel like . i think this boost might be addictive
I had problems with spike and ended up blowing a head gasket I got off easy...Doesn't make sense to me that the boost should not hold the same whether on the dyno or street...Maybe some members with more knowledge will chime in and we can get more responses...Prior to blowing the gasket I saw boost up to 12pds...Since replacing the gasket and having the wastegate reset the bike is dead on a 6pds...it had 7 lbs of boost on the dyno . my tuner said it would be higher under pressure on the street . he said i may see 10 lbs of boost on the gauge . it didnt substain 10 lbs but it did show 10 lbs on the tell tale
.
