Finally got pulled over on the Busa

For 70 in a 55. What a waste! I was on a backroad in the middle of nowhere in Indiana at 1:00 AM. After all of the crazy stuff I've done... I had already passed two cops hiding so I was taking it easy. He checked my paperwork and let me go with a warning. He said he understood me wanting to go fast on a bike like that but he pulled me over because there have been a lot of people hitting deer in that particular area. The officer couldn't have been cooler so I can't complain. I still think I need to tone the triple digits down for a while though.

Yeah, whenever I et pulled over and get a warning, I respect the officer, what he is doing and what he is telling me. I sually take it as a sing I need to chill out for awhile....

Did you get a verbal warning, or a written one? I got a written warning 88 in a 55 awhile back.

Glad to hear it was just a warning. It's sooo hard to keep in double digits on the Busa.

See to me this is good police work... Especially given the night time conditions... Yeah, 70 is pretty mild and I would consider it within reason out in the sticks, but he had a good point regarding dear... Sounds like the Officer was actually "Serving and Protecting" good work...

I have allways found that a written or verbal warning cools me out longer than an actual ticket. If I get a ticket I am allready screwed... My insurance is fugged, I am allready going to be spending a grip of money and points are going to be assessed so fug it! I might as well go make it worth my while... But a warning allways says to me "That was close, I better straighten my poop out before I really get nailed".

Hell it's still a better ticket than expired tags on your car going about 45 in a 45 MPH zone....

Well, I finally got waved at by a popo while ridin' my busa. I met him after I split off from Ben and William after our ride today. He threw up his hand before I had a chance to wave. I was like, whoa!
eek2.gif
Of course I waved back. I thought that was cool as Hell. Other cops DO wave at sport riders!

And no, I didn't know him and he didn't know me.

YAp.... Trooper (1st one that has pulled me over in 14 years that just did'nt give me a warning got me for a lousy 71 in a 50 (Had some jerkoff in a Suburban tailgating me so I wanted away from him). And SHE gave me the ticket... So I promptly got the passport 8500 50x and a HARD system for it... MY insurance on the Vette is enuff as is w/o getting stupid tickets.

Cops suck. Once a pig exceeds the speed limit in his off-duty vehicle and doesn't give himself a ticket for it, he has lost all rights to give others a ticket. Friggin hypocrites.

If the best that pig could do on the taxpayers dollar is to sit in the middle of nowhere and make sure that you don't hit a deer, then I don't think he is protecting and serving, I think he is getting over.

I haven't been pulled over in 6yrs. Hopefully it stays that way:D

a month back, I got a 200 $ (yes, 200.. ..161 Euros to be exact..) in Switzerland for doing 100 Km/h in a 80 zone.. The bastard policeman was arrogant, insulting regarding my Country, and absolutely ignorant on Culture & History. He was a 28 y.o. prick, that was saved by Infinite Wisdom and the God of Swiss cheese not to push him over the cliff he was standing and bragging about his camera proof (.."we got you on tape!.. hehe.."..)..

Then, went back to Italy where I was doing 250-290 Km/h on 70 zone, eaasy.. ..and safe, too..

I love Italy! Will go again next year, and perhaps keep visiting every year for the rest of my riding life..

Don't EVER go to Switzerland on a bike - they don't give a poop about tourists (actually, they hate 'em..), have radar-traps allover the place, serve poop for food, charge everything like uncut diamonds, and their manners suck!

..oh, and their history extends to their one and only invention; the Cuckoo Clock!..

Top THIS!!!!!

170 in a 55.

No disrespect to police....... but i dare not stop! But 3 did pursue. We all went bye-bye. Haven't been over the speed limit since though. Chest still hurts from heart pounding!! and its been a week already.

Last year i got pulled over in a construction zone for going 62 in a 45. but where he said i was speeding is the place where i almost got hit by an idiot on a cell phone( that was coming into my lane). i speed up to not get hit.

i asked him .. if that is where u saw me speeding then u would have seen me almost get hit by the car. BUT OF COURSE HE SAID HE DIDNT SEE THAT .

so ticket for 62 in a 45.

Slowpoke,

Apparently your have only had bad experinace with L.E.O.

If I get caught going 100mph in a 45mph zone and I get a ticket for it then I get a ticket. You know what the speed limit is and if you go over that limit than you are doing something illegal and if you get a ticket you knew it was wrong ,so dont blame the Cop (for your disregard for the law) or for doing his job. Even though I am in LE I still have to pay the consequinces for my actions and if I get a ticket for doing something that was illegal then I get the tickt if I get a warning then I thank my lucky stars for not getting the ticket.

Like BT said dont throw a blanket statement about a profession because you have had a bad experience.

Sorry for the rant it just pisses me off when people blame others or a profession for their mistakes insted of themselves.

I think there are some bad LEO's out there. I have vented regarding the same...

But when it comes down to it, This COP in this instance was doing a good job from the sounds of it... Sounds like you need to STFU...

On another note, I have found that State Troopers tend to be some of the most professional LEO's out there. I have never had a Trooper act in a anything other than a professional manner...

Busa Brother.... MAN IT's Getting deep... If you know there were three units behind you you weren't going anywhere near 170... I'm going to play the BS card...
smile.gif
But both times I have had a STOP NO STOP decision to make I saw the LEO's for about 5 seconds... No way they had time to get three units behind you if you were actually moving at any decent speed.... Come on
smile.gif
Now what really happened?

You pulled over for 110 in a 75mph zone and you cried like a little girl!

Are you sure you weren't in Georgia?

I have had many bad experiences with LEO's in the past but I refuse to make the blanket statement that all cops suck. Technically, I was speeding by going 70 in a 55 but I really don't think I deserved a ticket because I wasn't being unsafe - I was the only person on the road. 70 in a 55 isn't a crazy fast speed. I treated the officer with respect and he treated me with the same. The warning was enough to get me to slow down without the disruption of the cost of a ticket and increased insurance premiums. I consider that good police work. If I had been going 90+ I probably would have deserved a ticket but I consider 70 MPH within reason. I think the full gear I was wearing may have helped too. Indiana doesn't even require eye protection. I have found in the past that cops are more likely to be a little forgiving when they see the gear - I guess they see it as a sign of responsibility. No one around here wears any gear. A helmet is a rare siting.

Very true statement. It's not just the squids and hardley riders either, I've noticed even the old timers on the Oldwings are riding around with no helmets and short sleeved shirts. If by chance you do see someone with gear they're typically on an ST bike.

My favorites are the shirtless wonders with the helmet dangling from the side of the bike. Their gear usually consists of a pair of shorts and sandals. Can't believe how many I've seen this week alone.
I guess the world would be a boring place if it weren't for those Darwin Award candidates.
