First bike suggestion...

so, i posted earlier with some ?'s about the busa. i also asked what a good starter bike would be. a 600 was suggested, so i was wondering what you guys would recommend. should i go with a gsx-r? or something else, such as a cbr or whatever? just lemme know what you think...

I'm one that disagrees with a 600 RR. I say 600 Katana, SV650, or VT800 Honda Interceptor.

Your decision also has to take in mind that; your money situation. When I first started riding I wanted a big sport bike. But I didn't think I had enough experience so I went with a Yamaha Radian. It was a 600cc bike and I out grew that by the end of the summer. A couple of years later the first busa's came out. I wanted one so bad. but couldn't afford it. I had just bought a new house. So I stuck it out with the Radian. The last couple of years because of back problems and pure boardum. I hardly rode it. Finally this year I said screw it..and pick me up a busa.
And now I find excusses to ride her. Like hmm I need smokes. and I am gone for an hour. or hmm I don't feel like cookin. think I am goin to go clear accross town for a burger.

I recommend you get a used classic you really like that's in great condition. There's plenty around for low prices (which translates to low low low Insurance rates) and you'll be riding something you both like and are proud of. And remember it's not like your going to keep it forever

, just long enough to learn how to ride.
Me, I love the mid 80's Kaw Gpz (1100 my favoriate) ! Air cooled and Beauuu T FUL

Personally i think the SV650 is about the best thing made for a first bike.

Get the most beat up, used P.O.S. bike you can find which is MECHANICALLY sound and ride that for six months. That way, when you drop it, you won't find yourself cryin' the blues about it and it won't cost you a fortune. Also, when you do sell it, you'll be able to get a higher percentage of your cash back.

Just a thought.

By classic I mean it's a bike everyone thinks of as a performance bike in the past and they are still great looking today.

Like a Ninja, well yea, but like the first Superbikes coming out of Japan. They're great looking and comfortable to ride, along with being simple to work on. I'am still contemplating on buying mine back.

Wish I could post a picture, but I don't have the capability on this computer. But believe me, if you do buy one, you want regret it for one sec. Well, I wouldn't anyway

Take your time and you'll enjoy the ride on any bike you buy ! Just make sure you like it and sturs up something in ya

if you want a busa get it. remember the power goes through your head to yur right hand. just cause its there you dont have to use it. (at first) my first bike was an 05 busa and i love it. just .02

i say go ahead and get the busa why waste money on another bike like saygbye said the power is in your hands just dont use it till your comfortable

If you do get the Busa as a 1st bike.... Be extremely careful on how you ride it. The power it will lay down is flat out no joke especially for a beginner.

I strongly recommend you buy an older bike and practice on it. I dropped my 1st bike and it wasn't my fault. It was the moron who invaded my lane while I was in his blind spot beginning to pass. He didn't even look before he changed lanes. I freaked out, hit the front brake too hard and went over at 35mph or so. Scrapes and bruises and a totaled bike. If it would've been a new Busa, I'd still be crying.

Whatever bike you get be very careful... I mean extremely careful because of others out there on the roads. Always think safety bro...

i had a 82 yamaha exciter 250 for my first bike, 400 dollars, inspected street legal and ran like a dream. 85 a year to insure for a 17 yr old kid was freaking GREAT.

i still regret getting rid of such a mechanically sound cheap bike.
then it was gs500e, yzf600r,yzf1000r, and superhawk, now looking for busa in my range

so after looking at ebay, i think i will go with an SV650.... of course, it will be a while before i get a bike, but i like the way the sv looks with a bottom fairing. i didnt like the way it looked without a fairing, but yeah. thanks for the help on picking a first bike everyone.

600 Katana, SV650, etc..

buy cheap, $2000, that way if you crash, no biggie.  And when you sell to upgrade to a better bike, you sell it for $2000.
