First chain adjustment mileage?

I'm one of those who do not believe in chain lubrication, when it comes to o-ring chains. Mine has never seen any lubricant, only that which came from the factory.

I'm almost at 16,000 miles now and the time has come for first adjustment. Slack now at around 1 3/4" and it seems to have been very stable until recently. That is normally an indication of how wear works, once it starts, it progresses fast. I prefer a chain on the slack side, BTW.

What was your first mileage needing a chain adjustment?

I wish I could tell you that. I'm got about 15000 km on this chain. Unlike you I'm not completely anti-chain maintenance. Although I'm definitely against majority opinion as I just use wd40 as I commute and ride in the rain and I more concerned about corrosion. There is enough information on the web to refute the common arguments against using wd40. I think your experience demonstrates that excessive chain lube is unnecessary. God knows that I've seen a whole can of chain lube packed under the sprocket cover mixed with road into a grinding compound numerous times. I've got about 15000 km on this chain and it cannot be pulled off the sprocket.
The stock chain did 38k with 90w gear oil and it's replacement did 39k with just wd40
Anyhoo
Spray goop wherever it makes you happy. Or not...
LOL

Looked at this and for the price of changing everything, it is viable to replace the whole drive train in one shot.

Anyone know why Suzuki has four different part number for a drive chain kit?

27000-24850 for 2004-2007
27000-24860 for 2008-2012
27000-24870 for 2013-2017
27000-15810 for 2018 to present

What is the difference between?

If we go to the DID chain site, not the same principle applies?

In cycling, we work on a 0.05% maximum chain stretch, otherwise one has to replace the whole drive train, which gets to a $1,000 for a pro bike.

Need to do some measuring on the Busa, perhaps I can get by with just threading in a new chain.

See link below

Again, I wish I had concrete numbers. Just for shits and giggles when my old chain got snatchy and pulled off the rear sprocket by half a tooth, (admittedly not the most scientific method to determine chain wear) I laid it out on a table along side the new chain and it was 9 mm longer. That's over 112 links. I was surprised how little "stretch" was required to reach the wear limit. That works out to .04 mm per pin. The front sprocket had minor hooking on the teeth white the steel rear Vortex looked new. Laid atop the new sprocket it was impossible to feel any difference in the profile of the teeth. I purchased a new one anyways as I would have just spent the money at a bar on drinks for women who never had any intention of sleeping with me. LOL

Hi. On that note in my 65 yrs of trying to do. It is like a lot of girls know the first time they meet you if they will sleep with you or not. I meet a striper in Boston. I was on my way to buy a short block form Traco for my Lola T 142. I was in the bar early so not to meny people she stoped to talk to me. She told me not to buy her drink because they were to much money. She said she would stop and talk to when she could. It was 1:50 am I got up to leave I was walking by her and she took my arm and said you are talking me home. I said that I did not have my car with me. She said that is OK she has hers. We got to her car it was a 1973 450 SL I never made my flight. She worked all over the USA even woked in October Fest. When she was in town she would call me and we would go out.
