Like a few other newbies on the board I am considering a Busa for my next bike.  I'm 35, live in Ontario Canada, about an hour west of Toronto.  Just sold a 1996 VFR, that I spent way too much money upgrading, then road the shite out of it. Then made a list of the things I wanted in my next bike, and the list was pretty short of bikes that would work. Fuel injected, more power, good for two up, but I don't want to sacrifice and handling performance either. CBR1100, Busa, ZX14/12, ZZR1200.   The ZZR was out because I would finally like a bike that is fuel injected.

I have been riding for about 16 years, a few riding schools, trackdays etc.

I have a buddy who has a mint 2001 Busa, that has been upgraded to my liking already.  I keep bombarding him with 2008 pics and info trying to get him to sell his bike to me.  If the bugger doesn't sell his bike to me I may look for another Busa anyway.  I have been lurking for a little while and don't see alot of people doing much suspension work.

Do most of you find the stock suspension sufficient?  Upgrade your springs, or vavling?  What about braking?
Are stainless lines also a common choice for the Busa?

Thanks

Dennis

Dennis,
Steel braided lines are very common around here; depending how much you weigh, (190 or more) you may want to think about upgrading the fork springs...
'01 is a great scoot, lots of stuff for comfort and performance to make her your own...
post up a pic of the scoot you are looking at and some of the mods...

Oh, and welcome!

Dennis, the Busa is the right bike for your needs listed above.  I have an '06 that I use for commuting, riding twisties, and riding 2-up.  The bike is an awesome combination for all these!

I have installed Galfer SS brake lines & pads.  RaceTech 1.00kg fork springs, compression valves, and synthetic fork fluid.  TEKA ECU mapping for 160hp and 100tq.  And I run Pilot Power 2CT tires.

If you have more questions, PM me.  And FYI, I am considering selling my bike if your interested (looking to get an '08 this fall)

Don't have any pics of the bike.  This is what I know it has had done.  .90kg springs, revalved forks and shock, braided lines, full Hindle system, dyno tuned to 168 RWHP.  Zero gravity DB screen.  My buddy is a former mechanic and is really good with his stuff.

thanks for the offer on your bike, I will definately keep that in mind.  I have considered buying a bike out of the states, since the Canadian dollar is almost on par right now.  Send me a PM when you are ready to unload yours.

Still hoping he wants to sell his though. Because I know I won't have to do a thing to it. Front springs are even the right weight.

Dennis, my opinion is that 1.00kg fork springs are perfect for a 200 pound rider. I think .89kg come stock, which are rated for a 160 pound rider.

When I upgraded to RaceTech springs, the front end feels planted all the time, especially under heavy braking. On the street, a good rider on a Busa can stay ahead of an average rider on a liter bike. My buds all ride CBR1ks, Gixxer1ks, etc. and I lead them thru the corners. It is all rider ability in my book.

Stock springs are .85kg and 1.0 kg springs will handle a 250 lb rider
