New, couple questions.

From what I found where I am at least there is still a pretty large money difference between the gen 1 and gen 2 bikes. Almost to the point where buying new would not be much more. Couple thousand more and I am into a new one. With the bike I got and all the stuff I put into it I am still a couple grand off any gen 2. Except a wrecked one maybe. There are some really good deals on the gen 1's around. Not so much on the Gen 2's.

When I purchased my 08 it had 2000 miles on it and I picked it up for $8,500 and the bike was in excellent condition. I have seen Gen1 Busa going for the same amount maybe a little less. Look around on Craigslist , Cycletrader and the classifieds here on the Org .

I'm finding the same thing price wise. I have the budget for a gen 2, but a gen 1 costs a lot less. Everything I've found, here and some old magazine articles, say the gen 2 is a much better bike. But is it 3-4000 better. I'm looking at a '04 today and a '09 Monday, so I'll have a touchy feely idea then, instead of just word and pics.

Thanks again for your opinions.

Truthfully if money was not an issue I would have gotten a Gen 2 no debate. I do think the law of diminishing returns might be coming into effect a bit. Keep us informed what you decide to do eh. Nice thing is is that you cannot really make a wrong choice I think.

Got a 2009 last night! Going to pick it up this weekend. I'll put some pictures up when I get it home. I can hardly wait for Saturday.

Sweet! Did you check out the Gen 1 you had mentioned above or did you just go right to the 09? Do you mind sharing what you paid for it? Some people are funny about that. I am sure I would like the Gen 2. I have sat one a few times but have never ridden one. It is hard for me to imagine a more refined bike with better power, better handling, and more comfort than what I have in my gen 1.

I looked at a gen 1, but the guy was goofy and would not let me touch, sit on or start it. So compairing is hard. My (hehehe) '09 is white&silver. I paid 9,000 for it and it only has 900 miles on the clock.

2 days and a wake up till I go get it. I'm so excited I just wet myself a little. :laugh:

Congrats and :welcome::thumbsup:

Picked it up Saturday. What a ride! I'm suprised how managable the power is. Not as twitchy as the smaller sportbikes I've been on. But give your right wrist a good twist and hang on, go to jail speed right now! It's going to be a good summer.

Sounds like you got a good one and at a good price. Strange the guy with the gen 1 would not let you start it. I would not buy a bike that I could not at least hear run. Yes the Hayabusa really gets up and goes like crazy doesn't it. I love being able to go close to 90 mph in first gear. It comes in handy.

Lets see if I can get the pic. to work...

Kind'a big, but it worked.
