I had an '05 Rex, Green of course. Had it for almost 3 yrs and had a blast on it. The things are built like tanks and with any kind of maintainence at all will run for 60,000+ miles with no problem. I havn't riden my Busa enough yet (has 178 miles on it) to make a comparasion  other than what is probably the usual bug eyed OMG

reaction of anyone the first time they ride a Hayabusa after a much lesser bike.
Great everyday, commuter, bike that never fails to get comments, "WOW, what year is that, you sure did a great job of restoring it!".
Go to the Rex Board and you can find out everything there is to know about a ZRX1200R.
Have fun..  Tom

(4wd @ Sep. 08 2007,07:15) DaCol. is right. You have to make it a definite foot movement to make the up shifts, don't gradually pull up, or pull up softly with your foot. Just place upward foot pressure on shifter arm prior to making the shift, then quick snap up and it is in. Quicker, and at 3500 or more rpm's seem best. The busa doesn't like you to take it easy fooling around on the up shifts. It will find false neutrals, and semi  engaging, popping out under power. Make you shifts with authority.

It isn't like a big Honda.
Alrighty then, I'll set the shifter down some more for better leverage and pre-load it a little before the gear change.
Looks like I have a slight bad habit from the Kawi. It was a noisy shifter but just bump it in that direction and it was in with a very audible THUMP. Would shake the whole bike when I'd put it in first after idling in neutral

Thanks for the tip, now if I could just get it to stop raining..

(Rayabusa0818 @ Sep. 07 2007,04:59) I never have noticed an issue, but then again, I just ride slow and easy

Me either...np's here. I did have a 5th-6th nuetral the first 15-20 miles or so...but none since. My busa actaully has a shorter throw and less clunk than my 14...I think it shifts great compared to other bikes I've owned. But you need to get your downshifts completed before you stop, cause' it doesn't like to be dropped down through multiple gears at a stand still

(kennym4 @ Sep. 07 2007,04:22) I have an 06 LE, and mine still does it, not as bad after I switched to full synthetic oil though. Most of the time it won't do it at all, then it will do it for like a week straight ? ALWAYS 1st - 2nd, then from 5th - 6th . And it NEVER does it when I shift at higher rpm (above 6000 rpm)
my 06' does it some times still .. have full synthetic oil though and not as bad but it is still there
