First time heart attack

What is the best gear to pop the wheelie in? I've heard some that pop the clutch then I've heard its not necessary.. Which one is it??

Done a couple by accident. Just got a little too aggressive on the throttle and scared the he!! outta myself!

I have 0 (zero) interest in doing any wheelies. I'm SURE not going to practice on a $10,000 bike!!

Have fun, bro! +1 on most of what was said above.

P.S. I will say this: There ARE certain situations where knowing how to control a wheelie could be very useful.

More power to ya!

Still kickin...
The bike is much more stable with 2nd gear clutchers.
If I feather the rear brake I can hold a consistant speed in second.

(Rylinkus @ May 26 2007,23:59) Why would one stunt period?
Because it's 'cool'!!! LOL!

But, really, the busa is not a stunt bike... and wheelies are better left to the pros or squids on honda cbrs...

(Luvanicebum @ May 27 2007,02:22) Thanks for the advice...I am starting slow.  I've been watching all the crash vids and alot of the botched wheelies could have been prevented.
Not enough space
wheelies in tight riding groups
Guard rails
heavy traffic
parking lots
bike events
Not saying you can't twist one over anywhere, but limiting you're exposure to danger is key.

I'm cognisant of my rear brake and handlebar position.
So, now it's just a matter of feeling out how the busa comes up....arc and balance points.
Any pointers are always graciously accepted and taken into consideration.

Even if you are alone on a long, wide straight road,  slaming the front end down at any kind of speed will get you in trouble fast.  You need to practice setting the front back down gracefully.  Your fork seals will last longer as well.  I practiced landings by powering it up to 10 o'clock and setting it back down.  Just short low wheelies so I could concentrate on the landing.
Thanks for the tip.  I did feel how hard the front can come down, so I'm definately gonna work on that.
Yea, it does scare ya at first.  I think the pants and good gloves are the most crucial pieces of clothing in wheelies, since most times you end up on your knees and hands after it goes wrong.  ( god forbid)
well, it's nice out...time to go out before the rain sets in.
The best thing to have for practicing wheelies is good insurance.... and a good story about how a squirrel in the road made you crash!!!
