I watched this documentary last week...WOW is all I can say. I don't just believe everything it covered, but I can tell you, it makes me want to learn more, research more and change some things in my life. It has opened my eyes to things I didn't even know were issues...

Not making a statement here; judge for yourselves. I have a whole new appreciation for farmers and I recommend you watch it if you have some time :)

And just so you don't think it's anti-meat or pushing a vegan lifestyle, it doesn't...

Since watching this, I'm actively gathering a small group of friends interested in driving hours to purchase a whole cow and splitting it up amongst several families over buying from the mainstream markets now.

Just didn't want anyone to think this was a PETA-type movie  I hate those myself...

I grew up on a farm, and let me tell you the meat EVEN TASTES totally different. Love home grown corn fed beef!!!

Buy a calf and feed him out yourselves. Then you'll know what your eating. Who knows what a grown cow was raised on. Good luck on keeping evryone from getting attached to it. I planted mustard greens about two months ago and at thew rate they're goin maybe I'll get a mess this time next year. A farmer I aint.

Spliting up a whole or half is well worth it...just have your frezer ready.

And a generator nearby in case of power failure...nothing like having to toss out $$$ of good meat because the power fails..

Also watched it last year and was an eye opener indeed! I feel bad for the small farmers who get bullied/trampled upon by the giant businesses!

If you dont have enough freezer room, just let me know I have a huge chest freezer in the basement you can borrow, but it has to stay here.:laugh:

That is what really shocked me. I was totally prepared for a anti-meat movie, or more on the slaughtering of our food (last time I watched something like that, I stopped eating beef for 7 years!), but this was so much bigger than just that. I was truly amazed at how farmers are forced in to things that they can't afford, they can't sustain, that they disagree with but "monopoly rules" and they either conform or they don't make any $$

Just sad...

Be careful you are begining to look like one of "THEM"

Who? Enlightened people?

How close to a monopoly can something get before it's illegal? Rhetorical question of course...I know the world is riddled with 'em...

Monopoly is the natural evolution of capitalism. When the monopolies are lining the pockets of the lawmakers they are never to big.

pork is much the same way. if you get a half a pork or a full pork, omg, soooooo good. i've got a little leftover jalapeno cheddar kielbasa:beerchug:
