Crappy motels I avoid like the plague . . after I saw a doco about a motel in the US years ago, and the owner had cameras hidden in every unit and recording all the goings on . . mainly the sex and the violence. And the lack of cleanliness is a worry too.

I worked as a housekeeping supervisor for a few years. I could tell you stories on cleaning, what guest left and lazy housekeepers. Always have a small portable black light and pull backs the sheets also pull up the corners of the bed as bed bugs will be noticeable there. Also never take your suitcase in until you have checked for bugs. That’s how they travel.
