For those interested in the black out kit by Hotbodies (walkthru) horible fitment

Am I the only one that had to hack off the sides of the HB tail light cover to get it to fit into place??? I couldnt for the life of me get the tail light to mount back till I did that to it, I also heated up the blinker covers to get them to form better and glued them into place so I have no gap in between the fairing and covers like most have mine are nice and flush. A so called 20 minute job turned into a 4 hour project :banghead:

You might be the only one to have to hack the tail lite up.

Good job with the blinkers thou. That took patience.

I only recommend stuff that I have already used. Those LEDs will shine thru the tint better than the stock bulbs, but they need the flasher to make your flash rate correct. The HIDs are top notch!
Just thought I would share sinse you're doing a little pimping.

Good deal Sleeper. I am not throwing heart and sole into the blinkers like I normally would. The reason being I plan to remove the entire signal housings(the pods if you will) this winter. I am going to streamline the tail section. The turn signals will be aftermarket...attached to the tag bracket. I have never actually liked the Gen II a55. The first time I saw it I was reminded of the new volkswagon (hard to tell the front from the back).

Please forgive me if I have lost the plot, but you have invested time, money, and energy into making your brake and signal lights less visible to the people who share the road and drive cars? Other than possibly hastening your demise, there must be a point to this right?

Well there are several schools of thought I guess. Personally,I rarely if ever use turn signals. What for...by the time that dummy behind me looks up from texting to see my signal on I have already made the lane change....stopped for gas....and am now home in my star wars jammies. Rear signals are a waste of time. Mine are on there in case I ever want to turn and there is a policeman behind me.

Front signals. Do you know what thier flashing says to me? It says *Kill me* *Kill me* . Ever see those motorcyclist scooting along oblivious to the fact that the left signal is still going? At the next intersection some dummy in a car is in a huge hurry to get nowhere. He see's that flasher and...BAM.

Brake lights. Yup...those giant Goldwings with the 27 brake lights...they never get rear ended. Actually,I would have to admit they might get hit less. My Busa just doesn't have room for 27 lights.

I have only been run over once...on my first Busa with a super bright tail/brake combo. If you allow a car to follow to close and need to brake suddenly,I dont care if you have ten brake lights,an' orange vest and a neon green lid....they are still gonna run you over.

I was stopped at an intersection at 12 noon on a bright clear summer day. Tail lite glowing, brake lite on. Bam.

I guess blacked out tail lites can work both ways. The punk kids who are speeding and most likely to run you down, might actually take notice of my "Cool Lights" and actually see them, assuming they can look up from that cell phone and those 19 year old b00bies in the passenger seat.

Them old folks that park in that first spot at walmart. They were once good drivers. Now it takes them 5 minutes to get out of the car. I'm guessing the reflexes needed to get that foot from the accelerator to the brake are still lightning fast. They need a walker to go 12 feet, but those legs are still trusted on the road behind the wheel of that 1981 cadilac. I had a nice old senior today who was first in line at an' intersection in the left turn lane. Behind them, one car, then me. The light whent green with a flashing green arrow for them to go ahead. Well,I guess they fell asleep. I laid on the horn first, then the car behind them did the same. They must have woke up about 2 seconds after the advanced green STOPPED. Well...thats when then gunned it thru the intersection just about killing everyone on comming. The big cars and trucks headed their way did not get their attention...but I'm sure a Goldwing with one of them flashing headlights would have done the trick.

They see you...or they dont. Thats my theory.

Hopefully my theory is wrong Dallas Busa and hopefully you have your hi-vis vest on,brightly colored helmet, multiple brake lights, flashing headlight and of course you've picked the right colored bike. Silver and grey looks like concrete, hard to see. Black...no good at night. etc.

In answer to your question...there is no point to most custom vehicle customizations other than....

It looks cool.

Dallas Busa...What color is your bike? You dont have any black leathers or lids do you? You wear lime green right? Do you have your pulsing brake light installed with high amp bulbs? Have you got that HID headlite hooked up to one of those pulsers? Do you and your passenger wear them safety vests? NO...?

Yer days are numbered my friend.

Can't say I have ever seen a better

There is some truth to this theory. That's why I sent the listings to make his bike brighter and more visible.
The LEDs and HIDs will have Stevie Wonder asking for darker shades.
I am all about cosmetics, but being seen!

And there you have it.

I know straight up that my bike may or may not be seen, so I stay out of traffic. I live in a rural area and do my best to not get in a situation.
Just MY $.02

I agree. I rarely ride at night. Rarely ride in non-perfect conditions. But I also don't let paranoia dictate my entire riding experience. I think as a whole,as a group we are probably the biggest risk takers around the motorcyle community except for stunters, street racers,LSR folks, etc. I mean what safety concience person would buy a Hayabusa... and proceed to customize it in any way? First thing most owners do is attempt to make it go a little bit faster...is that not just a wee bit insane? Some add turbo, super chargers and NOS. Some add these rediculas "go fast" mods, and then for looks destroy any feasability of decent handling with longer swingarms and fat tires. My personal favourite is the addition of turbo and/or NOS and then the removal of 50% of the bikes braking power (removing one rotor/caliper up front) purely for "curb appeal". Why would anybody lower the ride height of a sport bike? Or mess with the steering geometry of something built to go fast thru the twisties? A smoked out tailite may be stoopid to some, but I don't view it as bad as mounting a cellphone,GPS,camera, or any other rider attention distractor. A custom seat, darker windscreen, lowered footpegs, altered gearing, shorty levers and a hundred more "mods" all chip away at the safety of any motorcycle. Then you have the folks who take a callous approach to their maintainance or riders like me who fail to do a pre-trip inspection everytime.Every bit of motorcycling is a risk. So....break out those orange safety vests or be like me...

Rubb the Risk Take'r.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.
