Every year or 10000kms, whichever comes first. Surprising how much the oil degrades and how contaminated it is.

Here’s the best fork servicing vid I’ve ever seen!
Well worth a watch if you’re interested in the technical side of forks…
Enjoy!

jepp gregg

the only main difference at the vid is that he wrenches a standard (standing) fork
in opposite to our busa´s usd (hanging) fork

the job itself is more or less at both types the same

opening, disassembling completely, cleaning and reassembling

what I personally have never done yet is to disassemble the valves for tension and compression, because I assume that the fresh oil flushes these valves after only a few km / miles and thus also cleans them.
but
if a fork has not been taken apart for more than 10 years, i think that dismantling the valves into their individual parts is strongly recommended.

and here the dirct link to the video at yt

listen exactely at minute 6:00 what the expert say about how long the oil should stay at max inside
(lill hint . 3-4 years) ;)

and here a pic of a 3.5 year old fork oil (taken in summer ´20 at a ´00 busa)

2020-April-20 forkoil 3.5 years old.jpg

and i regret that smells can´t be send same way
but if i say "close to sewer" one should understand.

I personally was close to gagging again.
