Today I received an e-mail from Chase. Here it is in part:
CHASE WROTE (OPENING WORDS OF E-MAIL)
(NO SALUTATION) I had decided that you were no longer needed on the hayabusa.org site...it's
easier to manage without your comments or attitude. After needing to leave
the computer for a bit for another problem, I rethought the act of removing
your account.
END OF CHASE EXCERPT
After thinking about the position this puts me in, I've decided that rather than waiting to be summarily erased for some future misconduct, I'm resigning my membership now.
As much as I might have liked to engage Chase over this, I feel that if I had tried to do so I would have been given the boot...just "disappeared"...without the opportunity to tell you what happened.
My leaving is no reflection on any members. I have the highest respect for all of you, even those who have reasonably (and often rightfully) criticized me in the past. I don't want to leave without saying thank you for all the motorcycling help you've given me.
Chase DOES have the right to run his board as he sees fit. I just don't take well to being muzzled and put on probation.
Having someone take me aside and say "I was going to kill you but I've decided not to" makes me feel like a suspected insurrectionist in a police state.
For some, including Chase, my resignation will improve .ORG. For those who still want to exchange ideas with me from time to time, I'll be over at Ranger's Hayabusa forum.
I wish .ORG all the best. It's been fun!
