GADSON-ZX12 OUTRAN BY 1300 AT COMMERCE

No you didn't. That was a Hayabusa! The 12R can't hang with the stealth. Busa outruns it every time.

Why doesn't Gadson just put his zx12 on the public dyno that goes to these tracks?
Maybe it would show his true colors?
Why didn't he go any faster than a 9.70 on the zx12 that the owner could only manage 10.50's?

Maybe this was a real stock zx12?

THE GUY THAT RODE THE 1300 IS MY GOOD FRIEND,MR.WILLIAMS.I SOLD THAT BIKE TO HIM ,THAT PARTICULAR BIKE IS A RINGER!THAT BIKE MADE 162HP STOCK WITH 280MI. ON IT AND HAS ONLY GOTIN FASTER WITH THE MODS.I'LL PROMISE YOU THIS IT HAS BEEN SAID HE HAS N20"NOT",HELL AS A MATTER OF FACT HE'S BUSTED ALL OF THESE SO CALLED HIGH HORSE "LEE SHEIRTS" MOTORS,AND I MEAN PULL AWAY STEADY FROM THE HIT.THIS MOTOR HAS NOT EVER HAD A HEAD BOLT BROKEN LOOSE!IT'S ONLY RICKEY'S ZX-12 RUNNING THOSE #'S,WELL BY HIS WEIGHT AND BIKE RUNNING 152MPH TRANSLATE INTO 190RWHP .NOW TELL ME THAT MOTOR HASN'T HAD ANY HEAD WORK,ETC.JUST THINK IF HE WEIGH AROUND 155-160 WITH LEATHERS THAT'S MID 9.20'S.COME TO GREER S.C AT THE GREER DRAGWAY ON THURSDAY NIGHT'S FROM 6-10PM.

Badboy,

"Why didn't he go any faster than a 9.70 on the zx12 that the owner could only manage 10.50's?"

Was this bike lowered and didn't it have the stock pipe on it?What was the mile per hour on the 9.70 run?

If Rickey is still riding the same green one he's had for SEVERAL months then it's a pre-production machine ...HANDBUILT.

Doug, nice to see someone step up to the plate.(wheres Rickey?)

Looks like the Muzzy Shop might be in the need of a Dyno-Jet 250 soon?(make your own Maps!)

It's going to be hard to dial in the "12" the right way without one.

Rob(Muzzy) said that he would have the "sidewinder" pipe for the Busa, by the end of March. How much longer?

Thank you Doug Meyer for the info. The sealer thing was a joke but it's funny because there are members here and elsewhere who say they saw it.Other members have said their friend at a particular shop(I won't mention the name)did the work on Rickeys bike.

152.51!!......that's unbelievable mph!

Doug,I thought I read the computer on the 12 compensated for the Muzzy pipe fine. Are you saying 2 or 3 horsepower will be found with a better map? What about airbox mods? Is there more horsepower to be found there also? Was gearing stock on the bike(Rickeys) in Georgia?

Frank, they have the same capability as the 250 with their eddy current. They're hard at work on that 12 I can assure you. Next stop for them is bonneville.

On behalf of Muzzys I’d like to set the record straight on all the various ZX-12 commentary I’ve been reading. The ZX-12 that we took to Atlanta was the second one we have received. The first, a red pre-production prototype and the one we brought to Gainesville, was loaned to us by Kawasaki to do early fit checks and pipe development. That bike is now in pieces, being used to prototype many of the parts you will see from us in the coming months. The green one that Rickey had at Gainsville was also a pre pro and had been given to Rickey just to ride and give feedback. That bike was returned to Kawasaki right after Gainesville and, last time I saw it, it was in pieces. The bike that Rickey Gadson rode last weekend at Atlanta was a true production bike which we purchased through normal channels and received on Tuesday, March 21. We spent one day doing exhaust fit checks (so that we could begin manufacturing our pipes) and then moved the bike to our race shop. We broke in the bike for a few hours on the dyno, installed a production pipe and messed with a few external things (there really wasn’t much we could do). We have no way, currently, of tweaking the fuel injection, but are supplying a pipe to DynoJet for a PC map. We installed the lowering links and a fork lowering kit and on Saturday afternoon we loaded the bike on the truck for Atlanta which left Sunday morning March 26. We unloaded it on Friday and Rickey started making passes, the best of which was a 9.45. The best speed (different pass) was a 152.51. That ZX-12 has never had so much as a spark plug out. The whole deal about the gasket sealer is laughable. I’ve got to tell you, when we DO work on something, there are no gobs of Three Bond or anything else on the engine when we’re done. The production bike is, much as we expected (because history has shown us that this is usually the case) better in many respects than the Gainesville bike was.
Also, there were two ZX-12’s at Atlanta, (both green) ours and Ray Metzger’s. At Ray’s request, Rickey rode his bike in a Sportsman elimination run. As it happened the bike in the other lane was a Hayabusa. Rickey lost the race by virtue of a red light, but ran a 9.85, 144 mph which was a quicker time than the ‘busa. I’m sorry I don’t have the time as Mr. Metzger has the slip. The ZX-12 Rickey was riding at that time (Metzger’s) had a stock exhaust. I have also seen some references to Rickey riding at Mooresville on that Friday. He’s good, but not quick enough to be in two places at once. Bottom line is, as far as motorcycles go- we like ‘em all and we’ll just do our thing and make the best parts we can for each of them. I assure you that, when I bike is fast because of something we’ve done we won’t keep silent about it, we’ll tell everyone we can! Anyone with a question can E-mail me anytime at doug@muzzys.com

Doug,

Its funny listening to this crap. with the sealer and so forth, Those of you who dont know Doug, he is a straight shooter and tell it like it is, You all just remember that while you are in the search for the "quickest" doug and other people going to bonneville are in search for the fastest.
Cant wait until August Bonneville.
IT looks like in the next few months while the mods start happening on the Zx-12 we will see what compares at the strip, we will see what the 12R does with mods to compensate for CC's differnce and that should be comparable.
