Gen 1 Busa Hickups / Jerk on high rev. (Video Link below)

I can feel and hear my transmission "kick" when going from 1-2 or N-1...like you're trying to push together 2 gears spinning at different speeds.
About 60% of the time I have to push down a few times to go from N to 1st. I'm sure my forks are gonna look rough

40k and a gear dying? Nasty. I hope they did a better job in the Gen-II transmissions. I remember the ZZR-11 I owned was supposedly renown for bent selector forks on 2nd gear, though I never had the issue myself. When I sold it the guy went up and down the street changing from 1st to second, over and over, so he was looking for it. A client I had owned one too, he was an old racer dude and they regularly changed gears without the clutch. I assume most of these issues arise from the bikes being flogged! Sure they can take it, for a while...

No, the Gen1 beater with 100k miles can never have a 2nd gear problem, and the 5k mile trailer queen's can fail.
It's the random wrong combination of parts assembled at the factory that are at different ends of tolerances, and a design prone to that failure.
Abuse never helps, but isn't the cause.
