Gen 2 exhaust conversion

pics of my conversion kit. i will be using both o2 sensors like the factory set up. i’m going to re coat the exh in ceramic black and repack the muffler. im still deciding if i’m running a muffler plate or swap it for a different brand . $34 for the oem gen2 exh gaskets, $15 for the o2 adapter and bung, hardware, washers, anti seize free since i already have them. plus some welding time. you can do it for less using non oem gaskets and using non stainless bungs.

so lessons learn: if u can, dropping the oil cooler and radiator will make install real quick and easy. the o2 bung on the brocks exh is too far even with the adapter i added. an o2 sensors extension is needed for the brocks. check the oem hardware. i had one bolt that was curved so i replaced it. i saw voodoo has an o2 sensor extension for $35 on flebay.

update, rebuilt the muffler, and got the gen 2 exh on. had to go back with a pipe expander to get everything to fit back together.

That pipe expander from harbor freight. I broke 2 using them. But was on galvanized pipe. Looks like you been through all the size mil gloves from harbor freight. I like the 5 mil, kinda tough. But last day of sale today $5.99 box 100. Throw away and get another.

Adding both o2 sensors or just using the plug and play cable still requires a map or tune to correct the A/F. Those narrow band o2 sensors only work during warm idle and light throttle at low RPMs.
running both oem sensors. every dyno shop ive recently been to just uses a tube they put in the exh to measure o2 so i dont need that o2 bung for tuning. plenty of people are running full exh systems on gen3s w/o a tuner so no worried about having it tuned. the ecu still doesnt have an aftermarket unlocking software so couldnt tune it even if i wanted to for now.

i borrowed the pipe expander but it could be from harbor freight. i actually just have a box full of random latex gloves. a few friends of mine buy boxes for their work and they always give me some by the handfull when i help them with their projects.

i zipped the slack from the o2 wire to keep it from possible getting snagged on road debris.i took the red inserts out of the t rex sliders because the red has already faded and i havent even had the them out in the sun yet. poor quality. im going to get them coated red at a later time.

I don't think anyone is going to dispute cost but regardless of Y harness or installing the second o2 sensor both options need a tune. The o2 sensors are narrow band and only operate in warm idle states and super light throttle driving conditions. It comes down to how much is your time worth. Other note the job looks clean.
