GEN 3 Lithium Battery

Whered you find it for $340?

Orient Express has them. Most on-line retailers I checked have zero stock, Go figure.

Revisiting the battery question. What is your experience, does changing the battery to Lithium - any brand - solve or at least improve the starting issues of Gen3?

It happened to me twice this past week. Super annoying. What especially worries me is that the bike wasn't exactly hot - 26 and 19 celsius outside temp - when it happened and it didn't magically go away when turning the bike off and on with the key. Cranked but not started. I let it cool a bit, sitting in the middle of traffic like an idiot, gave a lot of throttle and it fired up each time.

Previously I thought that turning hill hold off somehow helps, now I can confirm it DOES NOT.

This summer I felt I really bonded with this bike as it is now "finished" - I made all the mods I need. Had some amazing trips too. Yet this starting issue shakes my confidence it it each time. I'm willing to get any battery, even from the US (I'm in Europe) if it solves this BS.

I can’t say for sure with the Gen3, as I never experienced the hot start issue with it, but on my Gen2 it made me plan gas station stops to allow for pushing it off the forecourt and waiting for 10 minutes before she would go again. I put an EarthX lithium battery in that and never had the issue again. One of the reason I always put a lithium battery in any bike I get, unless it already comes with one.

I have a theory about the hot start issues, happened to me yesterday. I had the fan coming on a lot due to a bunch of low speed hot phafing. I think that at low RPM with the lights, fan etc. on it drains the battery. So thinking about a Li but would want it to have a good AH rating and preferably a restart feature especially when out in the wopps. I have noticed that you get nominal and Pb equivalent AH ratings with Li batteries, so for capacity calcs you need to use the nominal as the Pb equiv is a fudge. I see EarthX do provide capacities at different discharge rates. Interested to hear how that NOCO has been going CrusaderGeneral ? I know they make fairly good chargers..

I have an Antigravity ATZ10. Been very good so far , no issues. Has restart function. If you have a drain or leave something on it will disconnect battery automatically so you have 1 start to get running.

Yep, the Antigravitys look like the winner for weight, capacity, restart etc, now how the heck do I get one 'down under'..

I installed a NOCO NLP14 Lithium in October from Amazon. Works great and spins it over much quicker the the stock battery. I do quite a bit of sitting at traffic lights here in South Florida with the fans running and have had no issues with hot starts. I monitor the voltage sometimes just to see how it is doing and it is always fine.

Fly to China and pick one up
That's about the sate of it. I see there are some non DG chemistry options but they are a bit heavier. I just had word from the owner of Lithiumax that they will be introducing a 300CCA 6AH nominal 800 gram restart option in the 150 x 87mm form factor in March. That will probably do me!

1 lb 12 oz purchased from Moto D. I also get their valve stems for all of my bikes and love their rear stand on casters. They are big in the road racing scene.

I’ve had this stand for years and love it. Can’t imagine not having one.

That Busa chain will actually get installed this year.
