I know I'm going counter-trend but I think the stock Gen II tail looks better than the smoked version. JMO, of course.

Here's the Clear Alternatives' smoked lenses. This was shot at dusk-they look darker in normal light but are still fairly bright when lit, unlike the HotBodies:

I sold my 03 and picked up my 09 two days later. IMO, I like it alot more as far as riding goes. I didn't like the looks at first but they've grown alot on me since then and now that it's stretched and modded, i love the look. the tail i've grown to like too, especially with the stretch....though i'd like it alot more with a 4" stretch instead of a 6".

People will flame me, but I love the look of the hotbodies black outs but aboslultely hate the fact that it makes it even harder to see during teh daytime. I'm anal about that stuff and don't want anything to hinder a dumbass on a cell phone behind me running into me when I'm trying to turn or stop.

i read it as he doesn't want the dumbass to be hindered by the less visible tail lights, thus causing him to be run into when using the the lights to signal. Then again, I can't spell, either.

I was worried about how dark the Hot Bodies lenses look too but it seems quite visible even on a sunny day. Not as sharp as stock but decent. The Clear Alternatives lenses cut way down on the starkness also a good departure from the Kilroy look, IMO.

Yep exactly. I personally wouldn't want to cut down on any brightness of the tail of any bike, I personally go out of my way to make sure people know I'm in front of them and what my intentions are. An option that wouldn't be too bad is tint it slightly to darken it up a bit. wouldn't cut down on the brightness like the hotbodies covers, but still make it look better. I had my headlight slightly tinted (black and clear auto paint mix) to match my signals. If I wouldn't have said anything, you'd may have never realize it was done....I just didn't want it to stand out like it use to, lol. It's actually little lighter than pictures show, some how my camera ended up on a dark setting...sucks cause all my pictures i took during the build came out darker than they should have.

I had a UFO undertail on the Gen1 that I made some custom LED boards with 60 red 60,000mcd LED. This was probably the brightest taillight ever on a busa, lol Pictures are just soley the running light, brake light was unreal.

On the Gen2 I swapped sockets for 1157 size bulbs with a set of LED 1157 bulbs. Also added a module that would allow my signals to operate as running, brake and signals. When I hit the brake, the module also flashes the brake lights 3 times and then on steady as well. I also put a TrickFlasher.Com flasher on it, 5 different flashing patterns plus stock. Here's a video of just the flasher, I'll have to find one with the module and braking...there's a thread on here some where I started.

Thanks! I'm retarded though, that earlier video did have the brake light module on it too... duh..

Here's the one with only the trickflasher, you can see when i pan around to the rear of the bike how the rear setup should get someone's attention.
