~~ gilles chain adjuster install ~~

(runeight @ Dec. 07 2006,11:43) This picture here shows the part that goes behind the adjuster.

The instructions show two (2) mounted to one side only. Not correct.

Use one on each side. Tighten using loctite.

hey runeight
i think what u have may be wrong.
i do agree those parts need to be on each side.
please correct me if i am off, but the milled piece needs to go on other side of swingarm. that way it holds adjuster to swingarm, unless you drill/bore/countersink out the one hole & screw it into swingarm.

the partslist shows part 10/11 with their respective side.
based on instructions pic - i'd say we were shorted a spacer for each side.

thoughts?

The picture in the instructions shows two per side but yes..we only received two total in package.

I used the parts list as a referance. Shows one per side.

runeight...

The very small hash marks which are very hard to see are the adjustment marks. The hash marks sit above the number scale on the side.

runeight-
the piece you have highlighted eith the red arrow is what i am talkin about.
according to insctructions it should be on outside of nut, therefore clamping the adjuster to the SA.

i want to just drill into my SA for option 2, but dont have the countersink/borer to do so.

You are in fact correct on this. Good job! The brackets will fit in the swingarm the wrong way like in picture.

The instructions, besides being in German, are hard to follow. Good catch.

I need to modify this post so stand by please.

In this picture the brackets are mounted wrong. They do in fact slide into the gap on the very rear of the swing arm.

In this picture they are correct. Be sure to hold bracket somewhat square to swing arm then snug. Back 10 mm nut against the bracket.

no need to drill gat0r..thanks again. Although the rear wheel can't move it is still unnerving to say the least..

not al problem, i am just getting ready to install mine. wanted to make sure i had right idea on it. & make sure you didnt have future issues with yours.

just got my gilles rear set on, now trying to figure out swingarm change out. :-|
pics will be up when i am done.
thanks again for your input & all

Nice save gat0r ! So the bracket has threads allowing the screw to hold it in place squared against the swingarm with the nut locking it in place ?

Accurate and easier chain alignment when adjusting your chain. Preventing loss of horse power, excessive sprocket wear and premature chain failure.

Get onboard lil chitlen, theres room for plenty more.

yes,
there is an option 2 that i dont know about doin.
inside of adjuster has a small hole drilled w/ threads. you would need to drill through & counterbore for an extra set of screws supplied. then drill & tap swingarm. thus eliminating the small tab runeight & i were discussing. which in turn makes it a more permanent/fail safe attachment to SA.

& yes the instructions provided could use another translation to english to make it better ;)

but overall excellent quailty in workmanship.

SnT - if yur still watchin this thread, i sent an email
need some more parts, thnx
