Gixxer 1000 Radiator problem.

I went for a ride with a friend that has a 03'1000 2,500miles w/ a HMF full system and nothing else. We did some pretty hard riding and about an hour and a half his bike was leaking coolant pretty bad from the lowest center part of the radiator. It leaked alot more when he shut the bike off. I know some guys on this board have 1000s and I was wondering have they been blowing through radiators or this was just a freak of nature. any help would be apprieciated thanks

Sounds like a bad weld. They seem to let a few slip through the crack on quality control.

Thanks Narcissus, Ill let him know. I had originally suggested that he was just beatin the heck out of the bike while mine was just yawning and streching out and that he should think twice about riding with his bikes daddy. With his steed sitting in a puddle of its own green blood he wasn't to happy. Ill update him to the news. thanks again.

Is it under warranty still? That's a manufacturing defect and Suzuki will replace it.

Same thing happened when I helped a local member find a bad weld on the gas tank. Suzuki replaced the tank without a problem, last I checked.

2500 miles for a coolant leak indicates a defect. That is not long anywhere near enough time for corrosion to be a factor and I doubt he has had enough pebbles to make a hole.
