Well said Thinker...Here's a thought, What if a core group of users was to buy the website? You know everyone pitch in, we put DUSTMAN on point or somebody to take care of it... Just a thought...

What I would really like to see is the board become self sustaining and maybe even provide the CAPTAIN beer money or something for the troubles of babysitting and hosting the board. I have a great attachment to the board and do not want to see it go down... I have friends here, and I do not want to loose contact with em'.

RSD its official you have been elevated to my highest personal ranking with full honors. You share that position with only one other board member and that long standing member is kerberos. You seem to talk about things that you have no idea about, if life was as simple as you constantly speek then there would never be any problems to overcome. Now I am well aware that problems are relevant to the priorities that they have been assigned by the individual that is experiencing the trouble. I will not charge for access to this site! Enough said on that, I will not change my mind. I am aware of how to runa business, thanks for the advice consider your suggestions and insight stored in long term memory, advice is free and I will take as much as I can get, just don't look for any of your suggestions to come into fruition. I have met some great people on this site and for that reason alone I feel obligated to keep this place running. To be perfectly honest I feel like the site has been half ass'd for the past year, maybe my standards are too high, maybe the site is crap Im not too sure right now however what I do know is that I have a vision of where the site should be and its not there, do I want to stay status quo, I think not, do I have the energy or time to make it what I want, Im not sure. You know I went through this same thing about a year ago and I put the site up for sale and not a single offer was made to take it over. Look it up there is a post on the subject. There is a lot going on in my life right now and there is a possibility that I might be over reacting, regardless I need to sort it all out.

Cap, I think it is a dam shame that it has come to this.If these worthless pieces of sh!t had a problem all they had to do is ask you what is going on!!! You have helped me on several occassions for which I am thankful. But for these people to take something from this site and not even pay you for it then report it to paypal is a crime.. Ban them from this site post their names so that the rest of us know never to have any financial dealing with them, and the site can return to some kind of normalsy. Cap, there is not a true member here that does not enjoy the benefit of this web site, I think that a yearly membership fee would be a good thing. It would keep the scum and the theives out of here... I am sorry that this has turned into something that you no longer enjoy because for so many of us it is a place to get a little stress releif and answers to many questions that would otherwise go unanswered.

Those whiners suck and deserve to be booted from the site, at a minimum. I also agree with the fee idea, it would also weed many of the undesirables from the site.

I also agree with Big O and the others who really enjoy have the site available, and have since made several good friends.

I hope that you do was is best for yourself first and foremost, but rest assured all us "loyal" members would be more than happy to pitch in!!!!

Maybe it's time to step back and take a look around. You've got the house and various other things going on and the site hasn't been getting as much attention as you would like to give it. It's still running, being maintained, but it's not where you want it right now, even if you're not sure where that is.

Is there somone who can take over the maintenance for a while until you get settled down with the other things that require more of your attention? I'm starting to blab, it's late.

I'm relatively new to the site, but I tune every day to hear what's new. It's become part of may daily routine and I enjoy it immensely. But, you have to do what you have to do. I haven't had time to read all the posts on this, but I got the flavor. It seems the vast majority of the members would hate to see the site go and would be willing to chip in to help out rather than see it go. I ordered shirts just to help out. I don't really need shirts (though those are cool), and if they never arrived, I wouldn't complain.

OK, Captain has spoken, and as I figured from previous threads, he really doesn't want money. At the same time Capt, please realize that it is frustrating for us to hear that you may be losing money and considering shutting down the site because of it, but refuse to charge for the use of the site. It makes us feel helpless.

But the bottom line is that this is not about money. Some sugarbritches pissed Captain off, and when you are pissed, you can't help but think about the fact that you are spending a lot of time and money just to have some guy stick it to you. I think you just wanted to get it off your chest. It just scares us when you talk about shutting the site down. We would rather have you reem the culprits and allow us to join in. One thing I can't understand is why we seem to want to protect the privacy of people who clearly deserve to be ridiculed? I don't get that. If the people are not going to be called out on the carpet to face the music, I would rather not hear about it.

But anyway, I have been around here long enough to expect this every once in a while. Again, it is just a matter of numbers. Sooner or later there will be people who insult our women, post bad pictures, complain, and I guess even steal from Captain. Everytime this happens, good people, including Captain talk about leaving the site, and some actually do. But that is life. Shutting down the site won't insulate any of us from these types of people. Why not take advantage of peer pressure and take pleasure in the power of numbers as we rip the person a new one. Why not take pleasure in pulling the lever that ejects the person from the site?

We all support you and want you to enjoy life and your hobby.

RSD, I think you bring a lot of common sense to the site. But, it is not always a question of right and wrong. There is sometimes a fine line between constructive and destructive criticism. If you value the site, stay on the constructive side.

BTW, Kerbie was (is) one of the most intelligent people we had on this board. His flaw was that he seemed to get off on challenging people, causing confusion, and starting trouble just to see the mice run around. I don's see you like that, but sometimes you DO lean that way.

I don't even know what to say... I figured that as "the Oracle" I needed to say something that would soothe everyone and make them happy. But eff that! I say, can the guys who were complaining, charge a fee (whether you want to or not), and make it a yearly fee, not monthly (just easier that way) of like $50 each. That way, you get people (members) who actually WANT to be here.

Obviously (as was stated), you don't want our money. So what? We don't wanna give it. But, facts are facts. You pay to keep this site up and we love using it. WE SHOULD PAY! Thinker is right... It's not about the money... But, we can take care of that end by paying a fee.
