"Goop" all over my chain?

The DuPont lube keeps it clean and you never have to clean it again. When spraying on the next lube you just let it run off the chain and it self cleans. Then wipe up any over spray etc and your good to go. Well, give it a few hours to dry then your off to the races!!Cuts chain cleaning time to 10 minutes for a cleaning and relube.

if u have a o-ring chain which has lil rubber o-rings at each link dont use wd40 or kerosene

as busa matt already pointed out, the owner's manual itself specifies KEROSENE. Curious who/what your source is for your info?

That does not look that bad really, try pulling your countershaft sprocket cover off and see what you discover behind there, lol. I had anywhere from an 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick "goop" slung on everything in there. I cleaned it up spotless this last week using kerosene and a soft nylon type brush. I think the lube I'm trying is called PJ1, don't have the can handy. It's supposed to spray on liquidy and then you let it thicken up like the wax lubes...we'll see. So far I can tell you it sprays on clear and stays clear unlike some wax type lubes that spray on white and look ugly. Stealership salesman swore by it and I'm giving it a shot :beerchug:

I should have taken pics of my before/after from yesterday afternoon. I found out that I have a gold colored chain!

Countershaft sprocket is the front sprocket! The cover covers it!

I have a brand new can of PJ1, tried it once, what a mess :banghead: never again. I used maxima chain wax for years but the dealership parts guy talked me into trying the PJ1, big mistake. I now Use the Dupont teflon Multi-purpose lube, the best stuff I've ever used  No mess, no fling, no grunge to collect dirt, leaves the chain looking like new, and leaves a dry teflon lubricating film on the chain and sprockets you can feel with your finger, and hear in the smoothness of the chain for hundreds and hundreds of miles. Great stuff. I'll never use anything else again, I don't care what anybody says
